I really love Seussical. I think it's a fantastic score, great show for families. It is a little weak book-wise though. It's easy to lose track of major characters (like Gertrude)
And in response to someone who said it also applies somewhat to Ragtime, I agree.
And to keep this on topic, wasn't his voice changed? How on earth could he have played JoJo?

They had to adjust the keys for him, because his voice had already changed. However, he still struggled with the music.
Incidentally, they had the same problem in and after Boston with Andrew Keenan Bolger, who was supposed to open the show as JoJo. His voice changed, and he was downgraded to the alternate JoJo, with Anthony Blair Hall moving up. Not long after opening, Bolger left and was replaced by Cameron Bowen. Towards the end of the run, Hall's voice started to change, and Bowen took over. After Aaron Carter left, it was announced the show was closing in a week, and the two (Hall and Bowen) split the final week of performances, with Hall gettning the first four, and Bowen the last four.
