I never really understood the ending of Wicked because I always felt that Glinda in the end was still very selfish. With the wizard and madame motto le gone, couldn't Glinda have told everyone the truth about Elphaba? Instead she still wanted to live in the glory about being the "good" witch. Just seemed selfish to not tell the truth.

Did you forget the part that she promises Elphaba she won't try and clear her name because they'll only turn against her? Because, that happened. She's only doing what Elphaba made her promise she'd do, and she seems determined to make the changes that Elphaba would have wanted and guide the Ozian people with kindness and goodness.
"I'd like to try and help - I'd like to try to be - Glinda The Good" doesn't sound at all selfish to me.

It's like The Dark Knight, Glinda is Gordon and Elphaba is Batman.

Disregarding the previous mentioned answer to the question a major part of Glinda as a character is the fast that she's far more selfish and morally ambiguous than Elphaba which makes their monikers of "Good" and "Wicked" ironic.

Elphaba is the witch Oz deserves, but not the one it needs.
