I don't know what to think of him in that role. I recently saw Tom Wopat in Dallas in the national tour. He was a really good Billy. Def not my fave but he was certainly better than George Hamilton. He was a disaster.

Are we trainwreck casting Chicago??? Ooh ooh!!!! I'll have to think about who was really really bad! lol Although, I don't think I've ever seen a BAD Velma -- even though Jasmine Guy left a lot to be desired at some points...

Jasmine Guy was just horrendous. I was very angry because that was the first National tour going out andit really hurt the dynamic of the show. Jasmine Guy in my opinion was the second worst. Worst being that girl who only lasted 3 weeks when she took over in Los Angeles. ( She is now on CSI)

Out of curiosity, why is it that Chicago gets a considerably less amount of flack for stunt casting than other shows? It seems it's all they do, and it's never really an issue.

Girlfriend,
Chicago has been around for a very long time. And in the past it has gotten more of its share of criticism for stunt casting. Just bring up the names Melanie Griffith and George Hamilton among the shows serious devoted fans and you might still be slapped.

Just out of my sick need for bad reviews...How bad were MG and GH? I'm dying to know any specifics. I didn't know either of them could sing. I've seen movies with both so I know they can't act. And, for the love of God, how bad was the dancing?

Melanie actually got a rave from the New York Times. Which incensed people even more. And yes, She can't sing, She can't dance, and some of us think she can't act. So of course; the Weisslers though she would be perfect. And she was for the box office.

Did they have to alter the production to accomodate the less than stellar talents of the stars in question? Sounds like they would have to. I can't imagine GH holding that note at the end of "We Both Reached For the Gun."

Neither Melanie or George could sing, really. George got a little better as he went along, but he was still one of the weakest actors I've seen in that role. Although George probably wasn't the first, nor was he the last, Billy who couldn't hold the note for very long.

They had to alter the choreography quite a bit for Melanie. She hardly moved during Roxie. She did attempt, and from what I hear on most nights even managed, the cartwheel at the end of Hot Honey Rag, though...and I don't think she ever missed a performance, I've gotta give her that much.
