I don't think he is right for this role AT ALL!

He reminds me a little of Eric Jordan Young (who's one of my VERY VERY favorite Billy Flynn's!).... I think he has great potential in the role... And hey, he can sing! (it doesn't hurt that he's cute either! re: Wayne Brady next 'Billy Flynn' in CHICAGO on Broadway)

I see him portraying Billy a lot like Taye Diggs did when he was in the role.

I can't stand Chicago, and I still may have to go see this! I like Wayne THAT much!

lol.. btw CJR, you'll be happy to know someone on ATC said they would like to see Tracy Shayne replace Kristin in Wicked.. hmm.. does she have an operatic voice.. she had a great belt as roxie

I think he'll be great. No one should be complaining, after the stunt casting mistakes already made in that show, and he can act and sing, and has wonderful presence. I don't see the harm in casting him. He'll do an amazing job, and I hope he'll continue Broadway.

Wayne is so much fun to watch on the American "Whose Line Is It..." He could be great in the role.

Yes, I can definitely see that. Wayne Brady is very Ben Vereen. However, I would LOVE to see Victor Trent Cook (formerly of the "Three Mo' Tenors) play Leading Player. And, how about Justin Guarini or Clay Aiken as Pippin. That's definitely a role for an up and coming american idol type person.

I'd heard that Richard Chamberlain was going to be the next Billy Flynn and I got all excited about it. This is a terrible disappointment for me.

BTW: Who's Wayne Brady? Not a relative of Tom Brady (New England Patriots)?

Idunno if anyone saw this, but there was an episode of Wayne Brady about 6 months ago where Ben Vereen was on. At the end, they did "Magic To Do" together. That confirmed my dreams about him being the Leading Player.

Wayne will bring something special to the role. Would I pay to see it? Now, that's another story.

Haha Benzy, I totally missed that thread till just now! Wow, I'm a loser haha.

Yes, Tracy has an operatic voice (check her out as Cosette on the CSR of Les Mis).... though there are people who say her voice grates on them (obviously, I'm not one of them)... I do have to laugh that the person who suggested her, also suggested Donna Marie Asbury as a replacement for Elphaba. Oy.

I think that Pippin is definitely revivable with Fosse style. And now is the perfect time. Schwartz is red-hot thanks to Wicked and Fosse has been having his second coming due to the success of the revivals of Chicago and Cabaret and the movie of Chicago. It's time for Pippin with John T. and Wayne Brady!
