What do you guys think? Will this be the musical that got slaughtered by London critics, but has been running for 10 years or just another West End-Broadway flop?

I'd rather poop broken glass.

Unfortunately...I saw it in London.
I enjoy the music of Queen too.

This was the worst POS I have ever had to sit through on a stage. I don't care what people say.

Queen is one of my favorite bands and I'd like to see this at least once, but the synopsis I read on Wikipedia is making me rethink shelling out $80+ to see it.

with those leads? I think not. Crumm is sooooooo gay onstage. They should have ADAM LAMBERT in the lead role... then MAYBE i would consider it... its a touring show... broadway will turn its nose up.
No, Broadway will turn its nose up because its an awful show, not because its a touring show.
Whilst I agree that the plot is possibly the worst thing that has ever happened, the songs are obviously great, and the London production has a very good record of casting excellent singers in the lead roles, so you are basically paying to see the songs covered by belty musical theatre performs who throw in some fun vocal acrobatics!

I love Queen. I adore Queen. Some would say I'm "obsessed" with Queen. It doesn't matter. I saw this in Vegas and it was the most terrible 'musical' I have ever witnessed on a stage. It was god awful. If there had been an intermission, I would have left.
I'm seeing this in November in Boston. I bought tickets to this instead of seeing Mormon for the second time. I got cheap seats so hopefully I didn't waste my money. Hopefully it's fun.

Huge fan of Queen.
HATED this on the West End.
It was the worst thing ever.
hopefully some re-staging and tweaks and a new book and choreography can help this show.

I saw this in London and expected to like the music at minimum. But I was pleasently surprised how much I enjoyed the show as a whole. The entire evening was fun despite the rediculous storyline.
I saw it in London (twice in fact) and while it was far from perfect, I enjoyed it. Then again, that may be down to the casting of Rachel John as Meat who's little stage time left a big impression on me.
Honestly surprised it's taken over a decade for plans for it to transfer have been made.
Maybe this is good news for WHISTLE DOWN THE WIND!!!!
I also had the misfortune of seeing this in London. An absolute waste of money and a repulsive disgrace to the music of Queen. I am so glad that the sequel (yes, Brian May talked about making a sequel) never panned out.
Broadway will definitely laugh this off the stage. I mean, it couldn't stay open in Vegas...

Jordan, I saw the original WHISTLE... in London. That was a tough one to get through but it had its redeeming factors. I remember the Brits trying so hard to nail the southern accents, though. They were so odd. I still laugh about that
I saw the "pre-Broadway" American tour of Whistle and liked it quite a bit.
There were definitely flaws but I thought the cast and staging were great. Also liked the set.
It's a shame that the show has never been reworked because there is a lot of potential in the material.

Taz, I have seen the show three times. Once in London and twice in the states. Happened to have a friend in both the early 2000s tour and the most recent national tour in 2008.
The original version was tough to sit through, but they did make significant book and music changes between London and America (the version you sat through). So I do agree, there is major potential there. I wish it wasn't an ALW score. Imagine if this had an authentic 1950s southern rock score? Ala the Everly Brothers.
Thanks Headband. I didn't realize there were that many changes between the original and the American versions.
I remember commenting that while it wasn't great I didn't get all the hate that the London version had heaped upon it.
Oh, and Eric Kunze was wonderful as The Man. I saw the final American show so he had grown into the role by then, as it were. He was stunning.
And We Will Rock You is an absolutely awful awful show. I too am a Queen fan and all I could think was how much more I'd rather be watching a Queen tribute band than this....thing.
