I think you mean Laura not Julia.
She also dropped out of Violet Hour due to artistic differences.
She also missed a ton of Swing! performances.

So she missed a lot of shows in ITW and Nine because of that injury? ...sorry just trying to understand...never heard this before...
somethingwicked summed it up perfectly, her injury was the cause of missed performances towards the end of her run in ITW and then in Nine..
Veuve, I would like to thank you for being judicious in your explanations why you feel Laura has been miscast, rather than resorting to some low blows being tossed by others. I do agree that she is the sort of actress who has a complicated presence. She's like Ingrid Bergman bringing something more to a role that isn't written to be so much (she did that for both Cinderella and Claudia), and I can see how it may work against her here.
Stephen Lynch is very cool, whoever it was who complained that they had never heard of him, don't worry. He's a silly vanilli.
Cameron, glad you liked her. Do you really own a piano tie?
Michael Bennet, no, it isn't, but I had formerly been under the impression that Laura was one of the reasons this was happening at all. I guess not so much.
I'll admit I'm much less interested in "THE WEDDING SINGER: THE MUSICAL!" than I am in "FEATURING LAURA BENANTI!" I mean, come on, who heard about this and said "Wow! I've been waiting for that musical all my life!" :P I think I'll enjoy it though.

Thanks for the great review! I'm really excited to see this one once it hits NYC. It's still REALLY early in previews, so I'm sure that things will change for the better. :)

Aww, Julia has to sing pop style? Does that include belting? And I was so excited that it was a soprano role :/
I got the same feeling about Laura Benanti during the Broadway Beat episode on this musical, btw. But I can't truly judge without having seen it.
I bet Stephen Lynch is fantastic; I didn't know he could sing so well! I knew he was good, but not... Broadway good, y'know?
I might end up liking this musical even if it's just because I love the movie so much.
Hahahha... some soprano singing during The Wedding Singer? It'd be weird.
to one point she missed more performances of Into the Woods
than Carter's got pills (direct quote from the company manager)
Warm and fuzzy? NOT
Anyone wanna see Ceila Bolgers in this tole
More Drew like
Oooh, Celia. That would've been a good choice.

You can't blame me for hoping. Good modern soprano Broadway roles are hard to come by...
Anyway, Celia would indeed be a great choice.
I am a big fan of Tina Maddigan and would love to see the girl with golden hair go on as Julia. She's incredible.
