The line near the end of this verse from "The Light in the Piazza" is puzzling to me.
Tiny sweet
And then it grows
And then it fills the air
Who knows what you call it?
I don't care
Out of somewhere I have something I have never had
And sad is happy
That's all I see
Why does she say, "And sad is happy?" What does she mean?
I also don't get much of the Octet (aside from the middle section where Clara goes nuts on Franca).

From FIDDLER:
"All day long I'd biddy-biddy-boom
If I were a wealthy man"
Does "biddy-biddy-boom" have some special significance to Jewish people?
