That's cool, I can totally dig that.

Anyone willing enough to scan a PLAYBILL?

Ya, because Hairspray was a TERRIBLE idea.

I would say that if you actually counted up minute by minute, he would be singing more in Hairpsray than in A Catered Affair.
And, you obviously did not see him on Fiddler. Did you?

Posted: 3/26/08 at 1:59amNo, I didn't. I mean, I'll give him credit where it's due - he's a great actor, and a talented writer, I just don't want to hear him try and sing. And it was suited for Hairspray because it was more of a character role, and nothing too serious, but in Fiddler and in A Catered Affair - I would assume - he needs to be taken a little more seriously.

re: Welcome A CATERED AFFAIR#83
Posted: 3/26/08 at 6:20pmI saw the second preview this afternoon and I thought the show was touching and sweet. The only change I would make would be to eliminate the unnecessary reprise of "Coney Island" at the end. But it's Harvey's show so I don't see that happening. Other than that it was sweet, quiet little show. A lovely afternoon in the theatre.

I had a few problems with the show in San Diego and since they involved Harvey, I doubt they were fixed.
Harvey's character's bloated. I liked the uncle part in the movie. Small. Quiet. Only there for the dinner scene.
It's a sweet and simple show, but it ain't great. A lot of it's forgettable.
Wopat and Prince deserve a nomination.

Harvey was wonderful in Fiddler. No, he's not the best of singers, but he's SUCH a good actor and brought such a warmth to the role. I went to see the show specifically for him and I was surprised at what a good Tevye he made.
that said, I'm really excited for A Catered Affair. I love so many people involved with the show. plus the Walter Kerr's one of my favorite theaters. =P

I'm quite excited for this show. It looks to be simple, touching and quiet- three things new musicals haven't been this season and really should be. I'm sick of this loud, brighly lit, rock and roll garbage. Call me crazy.

Seeing Matt in his undies is one of the only things I remember!
