ok so basically every person should make a list and post it of the really cute things that anthony does in the movie so i can make sure and see them..i am pretty sure i have seen all of them but i dont think i have seen this mark sandwich that you all speak of...let me know i will probably go and see it sunday night or something..
To clarify the "RENT RP" thing...
It's more like collaborative writing than anything else. You create a character or you take one from the musical and you write from their point of you... with a bunch of other people who write as a character of their choice. It IS fun, if everyone stays reasonably in-character and has some sort of writing ability.
But not when people use gratuitous amounts of libretto.
ok I am a dork and love writing so I would love to do that kind of thing...
and you all did make me cry
Are you someone, or did you create your own?
And..using the libretto wouldn't be fun...
Backtracking to say that yes, I'm just going to stick my thoughts in Lari's thread.
I have people coming up to me in classes going "I LOVE ANTHONY RAPP! He wrote a book?!"
I'm Roger.
And Emcee... Yes. And his book is awesome. XD

k appaRENTly i am retarded or something but everytime i post something i dont know how to automatically get back to just this anthony rapp thread thing..i have to go back to my main screen and go to my favorites since i saved it in my history of favorites..im lost please help!! and how do you get those cool things on the bottom of your post?
I make a post and am sent just back to the main board...and you can make your signatures (those cool things we have) by going to the stuff on you left side of the screen and clicking on your settings under site.
An d Lari, which site do you do that on?
Along the bar on the left of the screen, click "your settings," then choose "edit." You can add a signature there.
Every time you post, the board will automatically take you back to the main page -- so either to the main board, off-topic board or student board. Each time you want to go back to the thread, just click it.
I just had to add to this thread, reading the thoughts here about 'without you' and what it makes you feel about Johnathan's death has made me start to cry. I havn't been a rent fan for long (about two years) but I've never been able to make it through the Rent bible (no it hasnt been sitting there two years I got it this summer) because I always start to cry and I mean *really* I felt a similar thing in tick tick boom this summer (london) I literally wanted to jump up grab johnathan and tell him 'you did it you really did'
I know in my case it's too much overpersonalizing-(i don't think that's a word but anyway) of someone who is such an inspiration to me combind with finding Rent during a really emotional period in my life. I just think it's so incredible also that someone can touch so many of us so deeply, in that way at least he achieved what he wanted.
That's just my ramblings on the subject, in my defence it's lateish here, it's been a long day.

You know what I want to see?
Prequel
Sequel
--- I think it would be very interesting to see what was going on in the lives of all the Rent characters before the play, how they got there, how they met.....and then see the what could only be extremely devastating sequel, after Roger, Mimi, Collins dies...(this used to constantly make me sad knowing that those characters would in that world one day become sick like Angel)...and how Mark would live on after their deaths. Wow, talk about depressing.
Of course, I'm only being like 25% serious. I just want to know all that for my own peace of mind. Both the backstory and years down the road seem *very* interesting, though.
Some friends and I were talking to the lovely Raul Esparza before we saw Rent at Symphony Space last week, and I don't think you can hold that kind of conversation with him without Tick, Tick, BOOM! coming up. I hung my head in shame when I told him I've never seen a live production of it. But looking around the little circle the five or so of us had formed, the facial expressions alone were very emotionally charged.
I put the CD on last week for the first time in... a bit over a month, I'd say. I didn't get very far before I just got up and turned it off.

I'm very disappointed in myself for never having checked out TTB. It's not still on Broadway, is it? How long did it last? ....The farthest I ever got into it was knowing that it was Jonathan's "other story" -- He wrote it? When? And it is autobiographical in a way? This, more than anything, I feel dumb for not knowing about. I should have seen it. That man was the work of art.
Okay, time to go set up the Safe Sex Workshop at five.
See you kids later!
In ran off-Broadway like... three/four years ago. There's a pretty high-profile production on the West Coast now, but nothing here.
He originally wrote and performed it as a one-man show. Several versions were combined after he died, and it was turned into a three-person show about his life. Get the CD. It's brilliant.
Adios Lari!
I was going to try to make a dirty joke, but let's face it. I don't make good jokes.
I can't wait for TTB to play in New York. I'm definitely going, I lovee all the songs.
Rumblings have begun of a reunion benefit concert....
::raises eyebrows::
Maybe in the Spring. MAYBE. It would, like the Rent reunion, benefit Friends In Deed.
oh wow, I would really love to go..but if it's a benefit show, I really don't have the money for that.
