Lincoln Center Theater reports that playwright Wendy Wasserstein, 55, has died. She had been battling cancer. She won the Tony and Pulitzer for "The Heidi Chronicles."
Rest in peace, Wendy.
I cannot even begin to process this. Such a loss.
I am greatly saddened by her passing. She was an astounding artist.
This is awful. She has a 5 year old daughter if I remember correctly. Peace and love to Wendy's family and friends.
Sending prayers to Wendy's family! May she rest in peace.

Dan Fogler dedicated his final performance in Spelling Bee to Wendy last night. I'm sure she is in everyone's thoughts.
Wait, so she died yesterday? THe papers are reporting she died today.
How sad. I hope she did not suffer too much or too long. It is always a tragedy to lose such a talent, but since women playwrights are so rare compared to the successful men playwrights this makes it even sadder.
(Might I just add as a note a "Thank you" for the links. It is nice to have news of this nature confirmed so undeniably in this time of rumors and hoaxes.)

She'll be greatly missed. I met her once years ago as a college student and was wowed by her candor and wit. Did she have a partner?
