Weez: Of course not, that's why they're anonymous.

And when traveling abroad, all sense of logic escapes the minds of parents.

re: West End Weekends: Two Weeks to Crimbo!

I may actually get to go abroad next year...first holiday in years! Tis my uncle's 70th next winter and he lives in Sydney, parents are planning to be out in Oz for Xmas and said they will pay my plane fare to join them (and we have lots of relatives there to stay with). The heat may just about kill me though!

Break a leg Sam, I'm sure you'll be fabulous!
Panto opens on Wednesday and surprise surprise, there's a cold going round the chorus and I've caught it. Vocal rest and lots of pills for a couple of days, plus I'm even wearing a scarf with my pyjamas. re: West End Weekends: Two Weeks to Crimbo!

Was on my way home from rehearsal today and ended up talking with a neighbour who I've never met before, and somehow ended up comparing Black Watch to the LuPone Gypsy (the former won in her opinion)...how very surreal. Hmm, perhaps I've just been taking too much cold medication and imagined it.

"so it's 10days til Christmas, whats everyone got planned for the big day?"

Chinese takeaway and Dr Who.

Believe it or not, that is the superior option.

ok so Christmas is such a big deal in my house (in case you hadn't guessed. Here's how the day pans out:

7pm: we start to get up grab our stockings with the lil presents and go into mum and dads room. open our presents together. (bearing in my my two sisters are 10 and 19, younger sis doesn't believe any more, but its tradition!)
8pm: we all have shower's etc, dad starts cooking breakfast.
drinking strarts now, with bucks fizz at breakfast.
9pm: we start on all the tree presents, the bigger ones that aren't from "santa" :P, whilst blaring out some christmas tunes re: West End Weekends: Two Weeks to Crimbo!

12pm: the nan and grandad comeover, swap gifts, dads doing last minute christmas lunch bits.
1pm: we all sit down to dinner, do crackers, drink lotsof wine etc.
4pm: after much drinking and slumping out, doing the whole family thing, start to put some picky/buffet bits together, put them on the table. just eat and drink away.
by 9pm: everyones colapsed, nan and grandad gone. catch up on the days tele, whilst being quite drunk re: West End Weekends: Two Weeks to Crimbo!

i LOVE christmas!!

re: West End Weekends: Two Weeks to Crimbo!

Cards are nice for keeping up with acquaintances, but in the age of livejournal, facebook, and IM it's not as important.

I am, apparently, a weirdo as I *only* do Christmas presents with immediate family (unless someone gets me something first, then they get a reciprocal gift out of good manners.)

re: West End Weekends: Two Weeks to Crimbo!

I get presents fro family, close friends and then secret santa at work. i spend quite a lot, but hey its christmas. my cards were done by the first weekend of december :P

can you actually even get chinese takeaway on christmas day?!

re: West End Weekends: Two Weeks to Crimbo!

I do like to keep in touch with old friends or aquaintances and the sending and receiving of Christmas Cards is a good way to do so.

A lot of my late parents' friends like to keep in touch with me so facebook etc. isn't an option.

I think the real problem I have is actually creating the time in a very busy lifestyle to do Christmas properly and enjoy it.

Because time waits for nobody...
We've got to make it together
Or we've got no more future at all...
Because time
Time
Time
Time...

*gets beamed up*

"here's a present for you Scripps"

Thank you Sam. I hope there aren't any of those bricks you referred to earlier inside.

And if it means I get beamed up to a croft in the north of Scotland, seeking a recording of the musical that waited for me but I never arrived may be a worthwhile exercise.

re: West End Weekends: Two Weeks to Crimbo!

Awh Scripps, there's no bricks in there :P

don't go to Scotland either, it can be so miserable, come join in the festivities at mine, there's a plan above of what happens, if you think you can handle it :P

re: West End Weekends: Two Weeks to Crimbo!

Oi! Scotland is not miserable! (I actually typed that as miserables...gosh, musical theatre freudian slips!)

exedore- thanks for getting that firmly into my head! I know what show I'll be listening to all night now!

Xmas day plans-probably relishing a day off from panto, get up 9ish probably, open presents, have breakfast, play some sort of trivia game probably, have xmas dindins, watch Doctor Who, watch films or dvd presents and eat lots of chocolate. Early bed for a boxing day matinee-booo!
