That's probably the reason they won't... why sell a disc for $25 when you're trying to get people to pay $60-150 per ticket. Will likely be released after closing. (I did buy one on eBay and it plays/looks/sounds great on my Xbox Blu-ray. The special features disc doesn't though, as stated above.)

I was able to buy the DVD here in Australia last week. As we are a different DVD region to the UK and I don't think they even had movie screenings of Miss Saigon here, I was pleasantly surprised. I have no doubt a US DVD will be coming at some point, but perhaps not until the revival has closed.

I noticed that the merchandise stands at Miss Saigon sell the CD of the 2014 London production, so I asked if they also sold the DVD or Blu-ray. The woman said she wasn't even aware that there was one.
The recording has been released in the US, which makes it easily available for most merchants in the US. Universal's blu/DVD release is currently licensed for Europe only, despite the fact that the blu is region-free. (Nearly all Universal blus are region-free.) When Fathom Events screened it theatrically here, there were plans for a US release (I still have the press release & advert) but plans were scrapped for some reason.

I saw the Fathom screening in a local cinema and seem to recall an indication in the credits that it would subsequently be released to home video in the U.S. The argument that they are holding out on that while the show is playing on Broadway makes sense, but were they already planning to send the show to Broadway at the time of the cinema screening?
I'm not certain but I believe they were. When the current production closes and goes on tour, possibly they'll consider a domestic release to help promote the tour? There never seems to be any rhyme or reason to how these things are done.
I'm just grateful the blu is compatible for US players and it's easy and inexpensive to get from Amazon UK. I watch it all the time and it was a great piece to get autographed. When I recently went to the show I was surprised to see at least 3 or 4 other people at the stage door who also had copies to get signed.

I just ordered it yesterday from Amazon UK and it's very interesting how you can buy it there relatively cheaply (I believe it was about 8.00 GBP + shipping), but if you buy it from an international seller through Amazon US, the price is MUCH higher - the listings range from $25-$40!
It's bewildering---I've found with imports that it's usually cheaper to get from a retailer in the UK than from a Marketplace seller. When the Cats blu-ray first came out, it cost me about $10 total from Amazon UK, but there were third-party sellers charging $40 here.
I bought while I was in Europe. Had to update my DVD player to play a different region though which was a bit annoying. Great DVD though.
