This isn't some unknown entity for which people might want detailed plot descriptions to assess their interest. I would imagine a lot of people are buying tickets already because the show is ... wait for it ... West Side Story.
Insiders here are debating the finer points of this production and whether they want to see it, but it is more likely that many in the general public see the name and purchase based on what they associate with the show.
Whether or not they'll be disappointed remains to be seen.
Now picturing the audience revolt during the curtain call as they all rise, fists raised in protest and begin singing in unison, "I Feel Angry. Oh so angry. I feel angry, tense, and distraught ... "
And then one manic loud voice begins to rise above all the others ... and wait, what's this? It's Imelda Staunton as Maria barrelling down the center aisle of the theatre.
As a silence falls throughout the theatre, she hurdles audience members to reach the stage where she engages in a brief staredown with the conductor before he begins the number from the top and she shoves the cast aside to ensure she has the spotlight.
