West Side Story out of town tryout in Washington DC

I just bought my ticket for December 30th! I'm super excited!

I'm not too familiar with the National Theatre. I just know I wanted a center seat to see Jerome Robbins' amazing choreography head on! My boyfriend and I are sitting center mezzanine, five rows back.

Anyone else planning on seeing this in DC?

I go to the National Theatre often, you purchased perfect seats, Front Mezz is my favorite place to sit there.

I haven't decided on a date to go, but probably in the first week of the run.

I can't wait!

I agree completely with the seat location. I'll be in the second row of the mezz on 1/3. (I'm giving it a little time to work out the kinks and it will give me a boost when those 'post holiday blues' hit!)

I wish they had picked a Tony with a killer voice. I'd love to hear someone hit the optional note in "Maria" live.

But their Tony does have a killer voice, he's just not a contralto.

I actually did a summer stock West Side this past year and our Tony hit the optional note full voice.

Are there discounts in DC for TKTS anyway?

MEGA still has free or one or five dollar roundtrips from NYC.

Really? I went to DC it was $20 on MEGABUS.

And sorry, but the new WSS's Tony doesn't have a killer voice. It's a little too much vibrato for my taste. And he just didn't have any sort of "umph." He's a little too white bread for my taste. Seems like a safe choice.

Matt Cavenaugh has a fine voice...I just think I have low expectations for him. He definitely is NO Larry Kert. And while I really loved Karen in In The Heights...I just don't know if she can pull off Anita. But I can't wait to see the show and find out for myself!

A friend of mine is Anybodys. So, I can't wait to see her!

Well, you're right. He has a "fine" voice. It's not spectacular, but it'll get the job done. I'm not sure that's the kind of thing I'd want from a leading man, but whatever. I'm sure he'll be fine. But he still reads too old for me.

EDIT: my tickets have been sold

I still have a pair of seats for sale for Sat Jan 17 at 8pm (closing night). Second row center orchestra on the aisle. Message me if interested. $150 each (that's what I paid).

I usually go to Baltimore for the Holidays. So I asked for tickets to West Side Story in DC so I probably won't find out when I am going until like a day or two before.

Oh my. I think I DEFINITELY need to see this. I live about twenty minutes from D.C., and I've never seen West Side Story live. I was going to see Legally Blonde at the Kennedy Center, but WSS trumps that...

I caved and bought a ticket for December 18.

Rentboy86- Off-topic, but the price for megabus depends on when you buy it. The earlier you buy, the cheaper it is. Usually around 1-5 dollars if you buy a few months in advance. I say this as someone who takes it virtually every weekend.
