I was wondering if anyone knew if Matthew Hydzik will be going on for Matt Cavenaugh this week seeing as he is getting married today. I would really like to see Matt H, does anyone know? Thanks!
After missing all the performances he's missed, he should not be allowed to have a 3 week vacation.

You're right, thats a lot. People usualy get a week, what makes everyone at WSS so speical? They can just go and say "i dont feel like it today." You are on BROADWAY! You work so much to get to this moment and when you finally get it how can you just say "eh i dont wanna."
Matt has had the best attendance of the leads, though he's had his fair share of absences.
After seeing both Matts in the role, I am really hoping Mike Cannon gets to go on a few times. Both Matts were just ehhhh. Matt H. isn't the huge improvement people are hoping for.
Do yourself a favor and try and see it while he's on vacation.

I chose, and my world was shaken- So what? The choice may have been mistaken,
The choosing was not...

I just got home from todays performance, and Matthew Hydzik was in as Tony. He was awesome. He had great chemistry with Maria as well as his best friend Riff and the other Jets. Matt H is very believable as a "former" gang leader looking for a change or "something good" in his life. I also have to mention that John Arthur Greene was a great Riff. Curtis Holbrook was great as Action, He has great comedic and dramatic instinct. Curtis hits it out of the park in Gee Officer Krupke. Karen Olivo was wonderful as Anita. She always gives such a fantastic performance. Josefina Scaglione was amazing, beautiful and sweet as Maria. She truly captures all of the beauty and innocence that makes this show have meaning. I was at the first preview, as well as last sunday and today, and have noticed great changes each time. The cast has really grown and developed since that first preview. My biggest surprise was the changes in "language" from last week. The songs that were almost exclusively in spanish, were sung in a more equal balance of English and Spanish today. I loved it both ways, but perhaps this is a better choice for WSS naive audience members. This production is outstanding!
