"West Side Story" Changes?

So i saw new pics of the new Maria, and I noticed that her costumes along with Tony's costume are now completly different that they were when WSS first opened in 2009...I saw it in March, did they make changes to the show to go back to the "original" way the show was supposed to look and not modernized?

Anyone seen it recently?

I don't see a change.


Just the addition of a coat.

Very often those publicity photos are done in a studio and they use costumes that are either available in the studio or costumes that were created for the show but were discarded in favor of other colors or styles. I know that Tony had numerous different costumes done for him before the team found the ones they were satisfied with.

Matt H. doesn't wear that jacket in the show.

i just thought it made it look more like the original WSS, not the way the new revival has it modernized

What do you mean modernized? It's still set in 1950's NY.

A criticism of the costumes was that they appeared more 1960's, but I still don't see how that's "modern."

The Jet girls had miniskirts that looked like 1967, not 1957.

He originally wore a plain blue shirt.



Also, the new Maria has a different costume for the finale. I haven't seen the show with her in it yet so I don't know if it is changed before that.



I can't find a picture of the original dress but it was light blue with flowers.

Speaking of changes...is there a new Tony for the Wed eve and Sun mat....coming in ...anyone know his name and when he starts and who is leaving Matt H or Jeremy J Thanx
