MGMs list of theatre projects has inspired me....
What about Bob???? The Musical
Musical Numbers I have so far are:
Act I
Baby Steps
Good Morning America(Act Closer)
Act II
The Institution
Boom Goes Bob
The Cure (Slow ballad right before the house blows up.)
Wedding Song
I don't have a closing number yet for Act II and I need a few more to fill out both acts. Any suggestions?

Well this number might be controversial but there NEEDS to be a song called TOURETTES. Also maybe Puppet Talk and Dinner Time. Puppet Talk I can see as a really big number that involves GIANT puppets. Dinner time would be based on that scene where Bob keeps complimentary the family on the food.
What about a great big flashy song called Death Therapy?

Thank you all for reminding me of a movie I truly love but have forgotten about...
It just might work if done as a quirky little Off-Broadway musical. Can there be a song called "Winnepesaki" as a choral dance number for the silly New Hampshirians to sing (a la Garlic in DOTV!)? I'd die. And I can say that cuz I have family and grew up there.

The whole scene where Bob manipulates his way to New Hamphire and finally gets off the bus yelling "LEO MARVIN!" needs to be worked in. (Sort of a "Poor Jud is Dead" number, you know?)
And let's not forget when Bob starts to come out of his shell and has his big number, I'm Sailing! Of course, he'll have to be strapped to a boat.

Bob needs a character establishing song at the beginning....maybe something called "KLEENEX" or something about him having to use something to open doors, etc.
Leo needs some sort of "Don't Let Him in" or He's Never Gone" song.
Oh, and you gotta have "The Dive Song," or "Just Jump!" Something like that!

There should be a song involving the puppets they all have to use.
and i totally agree about the tourettes scene. BRILLIANT! this could actually be hysterical.

...and still, the board would tear it to shreds because it is a film-to-stage adaptation.
BTW "adaptation" and "literalism" are sworn enemies.

DramaQueen- I think Dinnertime and MMMM are the same song. Maybe we could combine them?
We also need a song called either SCREW 'EM which those crazy old people sing.

You know the song in La Cage Aux Folles "Cocktail Counterpoint", where everybody is singing their different parts at the same time?
That is kind of how I would imagine "MMM, Dinnertime"
Also what about a song called POOR BOB IS DEAD. That would be the song when Bob calls in and fakes his own death.

This is brilliant. I was about to say "Sailing!"
Other suggestions:
"Gil!"
"A Vacation from my Problems"
The Guttman's could have a number about Dr. Marvin burning in hell.

Posted: 11/15/07 at 5:24pmI think I'd rather see "Groundhog Day." And then they could reprise the same songs over and over a la Spamalot.

If this came true, I would cry for happiness. I want to hear some stuff, guys! Get writing!
I personally want a "Waiting For Guffman" musical. Muscal numbers include "Here at Dairy Queen", "Operation!", and "Bite My Pillow". What do you think??
