Posted: 3/1/09 at 8:51pmTina Fey deserves to have a musical or play built around her, not just be sitting on stage alone for 90 minutes.

I may have been a little hasty when I said BD Wong earlier. While I do have enormous respect for the man's talent in so many different vehicles, I don't know that he could captivate me for a full one man show.
I'd say Mary Testa could do a hilarious one woman show...
But if you want a celebrity, I would have to go with Idina.

Well, he's almost already doing it (or done it, with "Back to Broadway"), James Barbour, of course.
And I would pay to see Steve Martin in anything

I love how post-Palin, Tina Fey is God. And deservedly so.
Elton John! Or how 'bout Bill Cosby. Or DiNero.

"I second Bette Midler. I'm surprised she hasn't had one already...?"
She most certainly has! She played the Palace in 1973 for roughly the same weeks that Liza did it this past year. Michael Bennett and Andre De Shields both choreographed!
Sometime later in the 70s, she did a revue based around herself for a few months on Broadway, and sang everything from The Bitch Is Back to Delta Dawn to Lullaby of Broadway!
She also did Divine Madness on Broadway at the Majestic and Marc Shaiman worked on it. Let's face it. Both of these were practically one woman shows.
Of course, she hasn't been back since then for a real run, so I'm all for it too!
