I'm sorry to start another of these threads, as i know they can be quite annoying, but i'd love the input of the board!
I'm in New York from April 29th - May 4th, and have currently booked to see Mean Girls, Frozen & Dear Evan Hansen. That leaves me with Monday & Thursday both free.
From what I can see, on Monday my only options are Once On This Island, Puffs or Skivvies at Joes Pub, id love to know which people rate or if anyone has any other suggestions?
And then on Thursday i *think* i'm deciding between Spongebob, Come From Away & My Fair Lady. I *think* i'm swaying more towards Spongebob, as CFA has an Irish production planned, so will probably come to London or i could see it there, and i'm sure they'll be another production of MFL i can see eventually, whereas Spongebob is probably not going to come to the UK or last much longer (plus i love Tina Landau's work...) But again, i'd love to take some advice or hear other options?
Thanks :)
I believe Once On This Island is easily the best of your options for Monday.
I paid full price ($299) to see Come From Away and I bought a $99 discounted ticket to see Spongebob. I subsequently paid full price again to see Come From Away a second time; even at $99, I wish I could get my money back for Spongebob.
Puffs is really cute, but only if you are a HP fan.
I'd see OOTI again in a heartbeat
See CFA OR MFL. Both lovely.
I loved both Spongebob and My Fair Lady, so you can't go wrong with either. I think you bring up a great point; you'll probably get to see MFL again in your lifetime.
OOTI for sure.
Your other three options are very distinct, so you should go with your gut.
I wouldn't dismiss My Fair Lady as easily, though. seeing a classic staged at Lincoln Center in a Bartlett Sher production with a huge orchestra is not something you will see anywhere else. Will people say those words and sing those songs in other places? Sure, but is that all that matters?
Come From away 10000%, Ive seen it 3 times and would go back

y'all raise some very good points!
I think i'm set on Once On This Island for Monday (Any tips on the cheapest way to score tickets? Should i lotto/rush/tkts/other?)
Thursday on the other hand is still up for grabs... I wish NYC worked like London with Matinees for different shows on either Wednesday OR Thursday so i could have an extra slot - but alas, only Phantom does a thursday matinee and i don't fancy that!
Thanks all :)

Not sure if your already aware ( I know I wasn’t), but keep in mind that allot of Off-Broadway shows have Sunday night performances (including Sweeney Todd, my pick for the best revival and most unique theatrical experience currently running in NY)

When I saw Come from Away I kicked myself for not thinking to get a box seat for that show (I paid for a full-price row A center mezz seat). It's short (90 min, 1 act) and takes place mainly center stage. I'm not sure what kind of prices will be at TKTS, so definitely check there, but I don't think this show is worth $100+. It would be a great one for standing room too, if they have it.
For Spongebob I'd try the lottery or rush. I wouldn't spend more than $40 on it.

unfortunately i don't land at Newark til 5pm (if my flight is on time) so i don't think i'll have time to get to Brooklyn, dump my bags & see a show on Sunday ![]()

You do have time to see a show, check your bags, and get to Brooklyn...
