What You Should Never Name Your Business If You Go With A Broadway Theme

There's the obvious ones like "Sweeney Todd's Salon" and "Mrs. Lovett's Smokehouse"

But what about these (and add your own!)

Dirty Rotten Scoundrels Savings & Loan
My Fair Lady Off Track Betting
Spring Awakening Day Care Center
Carrie's Bridal
Thenardier and Thenardier Law Firm
Mrs. Lovett's Pet Sitting

Mrs. Andrew Daycare
Defying Gravity Airlines
Mrs. Hanningan's Municipal Orphanage

The rain we knew is a thing of the past -
deep-delving, dark, deliberate you would say
browsing on spire and bogland; but today
our sky-blue slates are steaming in the sun,
our yachts tinkling and dancing in the bay
like racehorses. We contemplate at last
shining windows, a future forbidden to no one.

Craig, isn't that Mrs. Mooney's Pet Sitting? She does pop those p*ssies into pies.

I am a firm believer in serendipity- all the random pieces coming together in one wonderful moment, when suddenly you see what their purpose was all along.

Go with something from the plotline of a show. For instance, "Rent". How about Life Cafe??

While actually flying, I prefer my airplane to defy gravity actually :)

For some reason, this thread reminded me of Ayds candy, and the commercials bragging about its ability to help you lose weight.

I actually thought Defying Gravity would be a good name for a plane, but when I pitched the idea to friends they though superstitious people would be afraid to fly on it for some reason.

If ever I own a plane (which I hope to, although I'd like some kind of futuristic e-friendly one) I'll give the Defying Gravity name a shot!

Captain Hook's Pawn Shop

Hal Prince's Tony Award Store (he seems to make his own, don't he?)

Elaine Strich's ABC Store (when she wasn't off the drink, you WOULDN'T want to go in THAT store!)

"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

There is actually a chain of hair places called Sweeney Todd, in addition to the one in the Stamford Mall. Probably okay since no one goes there for a shave any more.

The James and Mary Tyrone Family Counselling Center

"You travel alone because other people are only there to remind you how much that hook hurts that we all bit down on. Wait for that one day we can bite free and get back out there in space where we belong, sail back over water, over skies, into space, the hook finally out of our mouths and we wander back out there in space spawning to other planets never to return hurrah to earth and we'll look back and can't even see these lives here anymore. Only the taste of blood to remind us we ever existed. The earth is small. We're gone. We're dead. We're safe." -John Guare, Landscape of the Body
