Hello everyone,

I will be in NYC this Saturday and would love to catch a matinee show. Since I'm there for a short time I would prefer not to be lining up for a rush at 3am, so I was wondering if someone who has recently rushed can give me an idea of how early I'd have to be at box office to get tickets to a show like Come From Away or Waitress? I know both are popular, but perhaps one would be a safer bet than the other based on your experience.

Any other tips to rushing on Saturdays are greatly appreciated! Thank you!

I would guess Waitress is easier, but somebody would have to back me up on that.

You need seats or just standing room would suffice?

Hmm seats would be preferable but I would be up for hearing the odds for both if possible!

Waitress will be 1,000x easier. CFA you need to line up, with waitress, I suggest walking up when box office opens or if you REALLY want to be safe 15 min before. I know people who have gone up maybe 3 hours after box office opens and got good seats, BUT I'm sure Jason will make it way more difficult. Now that I really think about it they are seeming kind of equal in my head. I still think Waitress is going to be easier, BUT if you line up at about 6 for CFA, you should get tickets. So now I'm unsure of myself. I would say the same for waitress. But because it is Bens last week across the street it could draw traffic away from CFA. Personally I love CFA and I think it is a lot better then Waitress. PERSONALLY. I don't want to be attacked for my view. So now I'm just adding pros and cons, but my final answer is go CFA. You won't (probably) regret it. OR if you have a friend willing to go with you, split up and check both, and get in the shorter one. Or just do I by yourself. Okay, hope I helped :)

Waitress definitely. CFA is very popular right now.

Waitress just hit a million dollars again for this past week. I'd say with Jason Mraz and a weekend and near the holidays, you'll need to get there very early.

Last week Come From Away was at 101.9% of capacity while Waitress was at 94%. I’m thinking waitress would be easiest to get tickets to.

I don’t think this is quite the right thread, but I didn’t know where to put the Waitress information since there isn’t an active thread;

I got the very last two Waitress rush tickets for today (Saturday, so a 2-show day). I got there at ~8:45. There were like 6 people there by 6:30am. I didn’t ask beyond that. I was roughly the 24th person in line or so. It seemed like there were 20 tickets per show, and no SRO yet. 0 tickets after me for either show.

Thank you for this! That is a lot more rush tickets than they give for CFA (I think it's just 8 for CFA). I am hoping to rush Waitress 1/14 for the matinee, but it is Betsy's last day, so I'm really not sure how early I'll need to get there. I'm thinking the evening performance (her very last one) may be more popular?

I was in New York over Halloween weekend. I was told that the rush tickets for Come from Away were given out within 30 minutes of the box office opening and that people showed up more than an hour prior to the opening.  I got there 30 minutes after the opening.  The last available premium ticket was given out around 10 minutes after I arrived.  However, 3 of us went to the stub hub ticket center and managed to get tickets that were being sold for face value.  It is around a 5 minute walk from the stubhub ticket center to the theater depending on how quickly you walk and what traffic is like.   I got waitress second level tickets at the TKTS window.  Last row in the theater but dead center.

I think for CFA people are arriving even earlier than that -- I go the very last rush ticket and I arrived at 7:30 for a noon box office opening I think (it was a Sunday). And even then I was lucky to get one, because two people ahead of me only got 1 ticket rather than 2.

Betsy Wolfe's last day was announced to be 1/9, not the 14th after all! She's doing some concerts during that time so she's leaving a bit sooner. The 14th was supposed to be Jason Mraz's last day but he extended, and Sara Bareilles doesn't start til a couple days later, so it shouldn't be as bad as you were expecting.

Thanks, I thought I read an article that her last day was changed to 1/14 -- but now I can't find it, who will play Jenna 1/10-1/14?

Fantabulous understudy Stephanie Torns has been Jenna 99% of the time when the regular Jenna was out. She also filled in the time between Jessie Mueller and Sara starting last spring. And had done all of the shows when Betsy has been out. So I would imagine she will do so again.
