I sat there for A CATERED AFFAIR. Its horrendous! Its soo high that basically you can reach the ceiling already. Pls avoid it at all cost!
I am 5'9 and I sat at the 1st row.. I can barely see half of the stage (meaning the lower part of the stage) I scoot up to my seat to see the lower part of the stage. if you are taller than me, you cant scoot to your seat bec. the guy at your back will see your head (meaning obstruct his view)
You better off standing at the back of the MEZZ or Orchestra. The balcony at Walter Kerr is only two rows, its basically where they put all those lights (spotlights).
At least --the show is only 90 minutes ,if its longer bec. you'll have a bad stiff neck the next day!

Ugh...I love ACA and want to catch it one last time before it closes but I also don't feel like paying $70+ dollars to see it.
I'm saying 'yes' but do you think it'll be on TKTS for its final performance? I saw NOVEMBER up there for it's last day so I bet ACA will probably be there too but...ya never know.
i'm 5 feet and i sat in the front row balcony. i had to lean over at some points but it didnt bother me much
IF You lean..your view will look like this...
as opposed to this...
Photo 2
You wont see the whole stage. No matter what bec. I stood up before the show starts and I cant see that entire photo 2..
When i see a show.. I ABSOLUTELY have to be comfortable bec. I tend to focus on the show...If I knew that would be my view.. I would have pay $80.00! I just dont want ANYONE here experience what ive experienced, plus the guy at my back was LITERALLY sleeping and snooring...It was REALLY hard to concentrate!

I'm sure it will be on TKTS. If you are a student they also offer rush tickets.
It closes 7/27
The balcony is 2 rows so either the first or second row is the same view
Thanks so, so much guys.
I'll probably end up stopping by TKTS.

I sat in the balcony for Grey Gardens last summer...those seat are awful...you have to lean over so far to even see the stage.
I was disappointed. The chairs were covered with spikes and there were snakes all over the floor.
I saw the matinee today. The mezzanine was more than 1/3 empty. I went up to the balcony to check out how bad it was, and it looked as bad as everyone had mentioned. If I sat in the second row of the balcony, I'd be so distracted by the ceiling and the lights, I wouldn't be able to concentrate on the show.
I have the feeling that the balcony at Walter Kerr was NOT originally intended to be seated by audience. It almost seems like it was MADE for overhead lights and spotlights!
Its almost like~ the Phantom of the Theater (if there's one) live there and watch shows at the balcony!

I agree. That balcony was not originally for seating. Even the seats look like they were put in after the fact to get some more money out of the theater.
i nominate J* to start writing a Broadway travel guide.
Oh thanks!
I would someday, hopefully! It's like how some people HOPE to write that one great novel someday! I hope.. I can write a book (coffee table book) about theaters across America!
Someday, I will QUIT my job..travel to all the major cities in US and photographed all the historic theaters and DEFINITELY it will include the 39 Broadway Theaters in NYC!
It will be my one greatest contribution to the theater community (that I would leave before my lifetime) hopefully I can get all permission to all the theaters! (broadway & great theaters across America) Its my dream!

Bring an oxygen tank with you.
Do not pay any attention to the mountain goats grazing up there.
As long as you don't have Vertigo, they're fine.
Adding in my two cents as well.
I had a seat up in the second row of the balcony when I saw Doubt. I literally sat down in my seat after bumping my head on the ceiling practically thinking how rediculously high it was. About 30 seconds later, I went to the house manager and politely asked if I could stand wherever there was an available spot, and she was kind enough to let me stand in the back of the orchestra.
Long story short...AVOID the balcony
