scooter- I totally agree with everything you said. It's more than just a typical ingenue role.

If Charlotte D'Amboise gets a nod over Davie, it will be yet another Tony Award injustice.

I don't think there's any way D'Amboise would get a nod over Davie. Or at all. I think they're both long shots. There's just so much good competition this year.

I can see Charlotte getting a nomination. She's well-liked in the community and she's playing the role that was once considered the leading role. It's definitely a possibility. And it's definitely possible for her to be on the roster and Davie to be left off.

Eek really? But is her role considered leading? Because you said leading in your post. It would really be a travesty if she got it over Davie.

Yeah, Donna Mackechnie won the Leading Actress Tony (ridiculous as that may be, due to the size of the role -- especially knowing that her competition that year was Gwen Verdon and Chita Rivera for CHICAGO). The role of Cassie is certainly a supporting/featured role, but Donna had such a vitality and energy that she stood out enough to be put into the Leading category.

A CHORUS LINE was just basically a juggernaut that year (think the year of THE PRODUCERS).

With that being said, D'Amboise certainly doesn't have the oomph to be put into the Leading category (nor do I think that the producers are promoting her as the lead anyway). She is, as someone else said, much loved in the theater community and has been around quite a while (and is a past Tony nominee to boot).

I do think Charlotte will steal Davie's rightful spot on the short list of Featured Actresses, sad to say.
Itty Bitty Geisha? Toyland? Gypsy Pasadoble? Just a few popular favorites...

As much as I enjoy Erin Davie's performance, I find it highly unlikely she will be nominated. Mary Louise will be nominated, and I think, win.
That said, there is a glut of candidates for both leading and featured actress this year. From what I understand, Debra Monk may be considered featured, as they haven't ruled on her show yet. THat would probably knock Erin Davie out of the running altogether. Also, D'Amboise, as noted above, is very popular. I saw her in ACL, and didn't think she was as good as Erin Davie at all. But, I'm not on the nominating committee.
I think, if Monk is placed in leading, these are the featured actress nominees:
Karen Ziemba
Mary Louise Wilson
Charlotte D'Amboise or possibly one of the SA girls-Lauren Pritchard
Orfeh

Monk is already Leading, as she is above the title. The producers will not be petitioning to change her to Featured, as she would be up against Ziemba and the pretty blonde (her name escapes me). So don't plan on any "ruling" for Monk.

Karen Ziemba for Curtains - Best Featured Actress (maybe even a win?)

You guys might think I'm wrong, but she's gotten a lot of attention this season for her work in Curtains. Interviews on BWW as well as Broadway.com and other places.

Al Dente... what would Drew Sarich be nominated for? He was great as Grantaire, but that's an ensemble role...
Cosette: Roses are red. Marius: Violets are blue. Eponine: You're so in love! Marius: And so not with you.

LittleFish8386, just because publications are writing articles about Ziemba doesn't make her performance any more or less award worthy. She received lukewarm notices from the critics for her performance in CURTAINS. I think she'll be lucky to just land a nomination. I think that the Featured Actress win is signed and sealed for Mary Louise Wilson.

D'Amboise was OK in A Chorus Line. I was waaaay more impressed with others in the cast, especially Mara Davi ( think that's her name) who I kept watching, and was always interested when she sang.

D'Amboise voice worried me as a singer. Sometimes it was completely free, and other notes (somewhere in the middle of her range) were so so so so controlled! like "give me a chance to come THROUGH" through was horribly controlled. But a fabulous dancer.
and all that I could do because of you was talk of love...
