A lot of you may question why Follies comes before Sweeney Todd. Well, the characters of Joanna and Anthony are so poorly written (and performed poorly in most productions except for the current one) that it makes even the blandest characters in Follies seem interesting.

Ragtime tops the list, with Les Miserables, Cabaret, Fiddler on the Roof, and Guys and Dolls a close second, third, fourth, and fifth.

Posted: 7/14/06 at 12:03pmI find it hard to answer this question. A mediocre show can be amazing with the right creative team behind it, the same way that a great book/score can be ruined by a bad production. I love the original Sweeney Todd but dislike the revival. Showboat doesn't do much for me but the Hal Prince revival is one of my favorite productions ever. Same with NT/LC's Carousel. Strangely, I like the show Evita but dislike the original production (it's good but I think it could be better).
