Okay here goes...
I played the lead character "Ugly" in my senior year of high school..so maybe I can give you the rundown.
HONK is basically the musical version of "The Ugly Duckling" popular fairy tale with book/music/lyrics by Styles and Drewe.
The show is actually a very touching piece of theatre which teaches diversity and acceptance.
I don't really feel like giving a huge dissertation on the plot, but I'm sure you can find it at the MTI website.
As for coming to the U.S., it already has in some capacity, although not on the Great White Way. It is very popular among regional and community theatres.
I think one of the main reasons why it is so intriguing to people is because it has the reputation that it beat out "The Lion King" in England for the Olivier Award for Best Musical.
When we did it in Nov '01, our production I believe was the Michigan Premier.
Its a great show with some really fun music.
I own two of the recordings, the Original Scarborough Cast, and a U.S. cast recording, from Wichita I believe.
I highly recommend at least a listen to the songs.
But, yeah, in short, its a very touching show about diversity and acceptance using "The Ugly Duckling" as its frame

One of the directors at the time had this obsession with re-writing scripts.
Isn't that illegal?
Anyway, he re-wrote much of the stuff for more people to accomodate the class size. Still, I think the total number of people in the show was 9.

WOO. E.HART! Im in those shows! hahaha. the cat is the best in honk! sorry christopher but come on hes a cat and he tap dances.
As far as complete works goes, we had like 80 people in our performing arts program and a mainstage show with only three wasnt really fair so he opened it up to more students.
