I like SOUND OF MUSIC the best. For the very simple reason that the score evokes pefectly the Austrian musical timbre of the late 1930s. I am especially fond of the OBC recording. I really love the zither in the reprise of SIXTEEN GOING ON SEVENTEEN. And Edelweiss. It was the perfect Austrian folktune to be written by a Jewish man since Irving Berlin penned the ultimate Christmas song WHITE CHRISTMAS. And DORE MI; what better way to introduce children to the glories and wonders of music. I wonder if Kodaly ever heard DO RE MI. I find more merit in the music than the librettos. I just tune them out and focus on the music whenever I can. Say what you can about children, nuns and nazis, SOM will live on due to its wonderfully melodic and incisive score.

Me and Juliet:) I'm just so sweet on that show, and not really sure why.

There's always room for pathos - and jazz hands.
