Pick 4 shows that you think are gonna be nominated for best musical and what numbers you think they'll perform. Updated On: 2/7/05 at 02:04 PM
FYI- There are only 4 shows nominated for Best Musical.

I know next to nothing about the shows that have yet to begin previews, but Dirty Rotten Scoundrels will be there, probably performing the song that finishes the Broadway.com video (Norbert and John sing it, but I don't know the title).
(Norbert and John sing it, but I don't know the title)
"Dirty Rotten Number"
Spamalot
Little Women
I don't know which other one will get nominated. It's up in the air, IMO.
If LITTLE WOMEN gets nominated, they need to do Days of Plenty. It's the only decent song, and only because McG performs it so beautifully.
1) The Light in the Piazza- Probably the opening number (I forget the name... but it involves everyone), Otherwise the title song or "Fable"
2) Spamalot-no clue
3)Dirty Rotton Scoundrels-Big Stuff or the title song
4) Little Women-Astonishing or the song they did on CBS a few days ago (when Laurie becomes their "brother")
These 4 are pretty much locks for nominations unless:
a) Spelling Bee transfers (bye bye little women)
b) Dessa Rose transfers (bye bye little women) PS: Is there a even a slight possibility of Dessa Rose transfering?
c) All Shook Up comes in and shocks the hell out of people (bye bye little women)
If all three of the above happen.... things will get interesting!

Not this season. Dessa Rose is scheduled to run through the end of May at LCT, so it would miss this year's Tony deadline. I guess next season is a possibility.
I also wonder whether, if Spelling Bee doesn't transfer in time, Chitty might also have a chance to take Little Women's spot.

I agree that CHITTY will take the fourth slot that LITTLE WOMEN is holding now.

If Tim Curry is nominated for Spamalot, I think they will do "Always Look on the Brigth Side of Life" as it would be a good showcase for him without giving away of the Second act Jokes. Otherwise, I'm at a loss. I could see a medley or maybe "The Song That Goes Like This" which I'm sure would bring the house down in front of a broadway crowd.
Little Women- ASTONISHING
Chitty Chitty Bang Bang- title song
Dirty Rotten Scoundrels- Dirty Rotten Number
Spamalot- No idea.
Revivals:
La Cage- I Am What I Am
?????
Trust me WickedRocks, Piazza will get a nod long before Little Woman or Chitty.
How about revivals?
Gary Beach will probably do "I Am What I Am", and Christina Applegate could do "Where Am I Going?".

I'd assume Charity will be doing one of the big splashy company numbers -- probably, "I'm A Brass Band" (or perhaps, "Rhythm of Life," "Big Spender" or Rich Man's Frug"). Weak-voiced Christina Appegate just standing there warbling "Where Am I Going?" would be an awful showcase for such a big show and not to mention it wouldn't exactly set the box office on fire the next day.
Since it's already closed, I'm not sure whether Pacific Overtures will perform or not. If they do, "Someone in a Tree" is probably too long (you typically only get about 4 minutes and the song is about twice that and can't easily be cut). Personally, I'd love to see "Please Hello."
Good point, Margo.
Shows that have been closed for more than two months don't perform at the Tonys, but if "Pacific Overtures" could perform, I would like to see them do "A Bowler Hat".

"Bowler Hat" is also a great song. Even if PO was still running and was guaranteed to perform, I wonder what they could cram into a four minute slot? Bowler Hat, Please Hello and just about everything else would be too long and would have to be cut, which you hate doing with Sondheim. Maybe the opening or "Next?"
dirty rotten scoundrels- depends heavily on who's nominated heres my suggestions for 3 scenarios
john and norbert get a nom- dirty rotten number
john norbert and sherie all get noms- medley: great big stuff, give them what they want, here i am
only norbert gets a nom- great big stuff
chitty- title song
spamelot- you won't succeed on broadway
revivals-
la cage- i am what i am or a medley of that and song on the sand
sweet charity- big spender
Isn't "Pretty Lady" right around four minutes?

Roughly, I think -- not sure it's ideal for the Tony telecast though. Then again, since there's no tickets to sell or box office to worry about, I guess it would be fine.
LA CAGE better perform something featuring Les Cagelles - I have a feeling they will, much as 42ND STREET did a few years ago. Les Cagelles are the only good part of the show, so to do a song like SONG ON THE SAND or I AM WHAT I AM, I think it would only televise and nationally broadcast how mediocre the production is. Les Cagelles would make it seem like gold.
If Pacific Overtures performs, I would guess they would do 'Advangtages of Floating in the Middle of the Sea'.
For Spamalot, I can see them doing "You Won't Make It on Broadway" or the song when they get to Camelot (sorry, I forgot the name of it).
If ASU does get nominated, I can see them either doing "C'mon Everybody" or a medley of songs.
I'm rooting for Dirty Rotten Scoundrels and Little Women.

SPAMALOT should definitely do "Knights of the Round Table" since it features the entire cast, with a big solo for Sara Ramirez doing he Liza Minelli-esque lounge singer. Also it contains the show's title "We eat ham and jam and Spam alot!"
They would never do "You Won't Make It on Broadway" for the same reason THE PRODUCERS would never do "Springtime for Hitler" on TV.
I hope to God Brooklyn doesn't do Once Upon a Time. I think it's almost definite their getting a nod, and if they perform, I think they should do something that doesn't ONLY feature Espinosa, if Cleavant Derricks or Ramona Keller get nominated. I think "Brooklyn in the Blood" is the best choice; as it features them all. Maybe "Heart behind these hands" or "Streetsinger", also.
I don't think LITTLE WOMEN will be nominated for Best Musical. Chitty (or All Shook Up - who knows?) will take that spot.
