Gypsy.
If you wanna have a full-day experience, go see HAIR in Central Park. Line up at the Delacorte around 6ish to be guaranteed to have tickets, the box office opens at 1, the show starts at 8, tickets are free (2 per person) and the show is one of the best New York has seen in the last fifteen years.
Other than that...SPRING AWAKENING, GYPSY, and AUGUST: OSAGE COUNTY are all phenomenal...AUGUST is not a musical. But it's the best thing on Broadway right now.
I would definitely go see Gypsy!

might see title of show, SA is coming to Houston, standing all day to see Hair seems like excessive when i'm only in nYC for a few days is there any other way i can see it?
Young Frankenstein even though half of the original cast is not in it it's still a great show
This is gonna sound silly, but if you were a fan of the MTV show...Legally Blonde. Bailey is awesome. She made the show more enjoyable.

I actually randomly walked into the box office of South Pacific last saturday morning at 10:30 and asked about cancellation tickets. I got 5th row orchestra center tickets for that day's matinee... it was amazing...

You can enter the lottery online for HAIR tickets although I hear it's impossible to win.
Or, and sorry I don't know the specifics about it but hopefully someone will, you can make a donation to the Public Theater for a specific amount and get tickets for any day of you choice. I believe the donation is over $150 and I THINK you get two tickets but I am not sure.
See: http://www.publictheater.org/content/view/126/219/
Besides that though, GYPSY is probably the best production of a musical to hit Broadway this past season and AUGUST is one of the best things Broadway's seen in a long while.
Hair, And making a donation to the Public. The donation is $165 for one ticket, and you usally get your first choice of date. joe
AUGUST OSAGE COUNTY...why not a straight play, huh?
Also keep in mind that the Signature is doing FIRST BREEZE OF SUMMER for only $20. They almost always do amazing work!

Go See Gypsy or August Osage County
I don't know if I would suggest Gypsy. I found it to be the most over rated performance of the season.
I would suggest Boeing Boeing or August Osage County in a heartbeat.
