Riff Raff or Brad in Rocky Horror

Fiyero is one of the worst roles on Broadway, I think. It would be a waste of talent for Adam to play that part (as I think it was for Norbert).

Actually CHE is a great role for his rock style and look if he goes darker.
But realistically I would like to see him stretch and replace Cervaris in SWEEENY when Michael gets tired.

Didn't Adam and Kristen Lee Kelly take part in a Hedwig concert back in 99 or so? I think he'd be great.

I'd also love to see him originate a new role in a new musical. Alas I fear we have lost him to LA. :o( *sniff*

He's still very much in New York.

He's "touring" the East Coast this Spring. There are Boston area and upstate New York dates for late March and early April, as well as one date in Virginia. There are some tentative New York area dates for October, but I'd be shocked if there were not a performance in NYC between now and then.

He's got new music, new, scaled-down arrangements of old music, and new arrangements of showtunes in the works.

I just watched that clip of him in Cabaret, and I agree with everyone who said that he should play Billy Flynn. He seems to have that charisma that Billy needs, and it looked like he had that in the clip. But isn't he a little young to play Billy?

Billy's kind of age-ambiguous. It's been played by people at such a wide range of ages. Taye did it!

I really can't see Adam as Riff at all. I mean you can't discount the dancing from that character, and I would think the role is more of a dancing one than a singing one. Even the "fights" are in fact all choreographed, and require a certain quality of "dancing." And while they are wonderful songs, "Jet Song" and "Cool" aren't exactly the most vocally challenging songs. Moreover, it's just...the personality of the character...the way he talks, doesn't make me think of Adam at all.

Which also makes me think about Billy in Chicago being a tap dancer. Think with practice Adam could pull that off? And how vital do you think that is to the character?

And I kind of like the idea of Adam actually playing one of Robin Hood's merry men...

And I don't know about the whole Billy Flynn/tap dancing thing. Is Huey Lewis an expert tap dancer? Or Kevin from the Backstreet Boys?

I think he COULD play Riff, hypothetically saying he could dance that well, which is sort of moot. But acting-wise, sure. I mean, if the way he talks doesn't sound like Adam to you, the two problems there are that you're basing it on how the people you've seen play it talk and assume it can't be a little different, or that you're forgetting that it's. acting.

Plenty of people wth minimal dance skills have been in Chicago. There's really not THAT much dancing. He could learn it, or they could take it out or change it. Something like that, I bet he could do. It's not a ballet.

Way to steal the Merry Men thing.

Funny you should say that. He did an interview a couple years ago and he listed Frank as one of his dream roles.

Well, it's not a particular voice so much I think, as it is the way the dialogue calls for phrases to be spoken. I guess it might work under the right direction, but it's all moot. Aside from the dancing, he is simply too old for Riff. That may be more what I'm thinking of when I say I just can't see him in the part. And again, if/when Adam returns to Broadway, like I said I'd prefer to see him in a role that showcases his voice more so than the role of Riff would.

And yeah, I think the emphasis that is put on the tap dancing has varied with the actor's comfort with it. It's just as I was thinking of dancing, the thought came to my mind. I would kind of like to see Adam do a bit of tap dancing though.

Hehe on the Merry Men thing Well okay...what about him starring as Robin Hood in a new Broadway production? Even better!

Fortunately I got to see Adam in Cabaret and he was fantastic. I could not take your eyes off of him, even when he was not the center of attention he had such a presence. I got to meet him recently and we talked about Cabaret and he said it was one of his favorite roles.

I definitely do not see him doing traditional musical theater. I can see him in Hair or JCS or Rocky Horror. Rock and roll is in his blood. Anything to bring him back to Broadway.
