The incredible Karen Ziemba, in the middle of an otherwise great song called "Running in Place" (in a lousy show called STEEL PIER), having to swing around on a flagpole like a cheesy stripper.
The usually brilliant Susan Stroman must have been on crack when she came up with that idea - making her longtime muse/alter ego do a pole dance!

Sally Adams in LOWCUT gowns?
Surely, Rath, you must agree that a provincial little country like Lichtenberg WOULD NEVER let her in no matter how MUCH MONEY she had to lend! :)

Chuck Cooper singing "My Way or the Highway" to Pam Isaacs (sp?) in THE LIFE.
All I could think was, "You poor, poor talented people! WHYYYY????"

Posted: 10/13/04 at 12:32pmThere have been a few but in Les Miz when one of the actors wigs fell off and took the microphone with it and it was then kicked around and made the sound awful until the sound people finally figured out who it was and turned it off! Or when I saw Pajama Game and someone forgot to turn off one of the actors microphones and she said "This Audience SUCKS"! That was sad too!

These are hysterical. I am having a good gaffaw.
I think the most embarrasing is when during Going Courting from 7 Brides for 7 Brothers one of ther boys towels dropped and he forgot to wear underwear and we all saw his shortcomings.

Posted: 10/13/04 at 3:30pmWhen I was in Kiss Me Kate I was singing "Tom, Dick, or Harry" and the girl playing Bianca lost her skirt in the middle of a dance sequence. Luckily she had bloomers underneath so she took it all in stride picked up the skirt and swung it around over the top of her head.

I was in a production of "Kismet" when one off the backdrops rose two feet and froze.
Behind it the entire cast was onstage for the final scene.
Yes, the audience was staring at us...seeing us from the knees down for several minutes.
The curtain finally rose complete revealing the stage manager center stage.

Posted: 10/13/04 at 4:20pmI don't know if it was the most embarrassing moment for me, but during "The Full Monty", I had my binoculars focused on a cute guy dancing around, practically naked, when his hand slipped and I saw a little more than I expected!

Posted: 10/13/04 at 5:22pmI've got 2, one was when I was seeing Fame one of the many times the understudy for lambchops was playing and she forgot to come on for the scene when serena confronts Nick about being gay and I got to see some gr8 improv, acrually no one in the audience noticed, but i was talking to the cast bout it afterwards, and they were in hysterics that no one noticed how off it was because the improv was sorta unbelievably, the second is that when I was in The Little Mermaid the set started falling down so it was halfway, and then the theater owner thoughtit was distracting seeing half of one set, half of another, so he ripped it all off

I've go two, a Broadway one and a regional one...
1. When I saw Wicked, the scene right before "Popular" takes place in Elphaba and Galinda's dorm room. The night I saw it Kristin's bed got trapped behind a pillar in plain sight of the audience and couldn't get to it's correct position. Kristin looked around for a moment like she knew something was wrong, but wasn't quite sure what. Idina then said, "Hey, what's wrong with your bed?" and Kristin realized that her bed was trapped upstage. Very smoothly they improved a little scene, Kristin jumped on the bed, layed on her stomach with her head facing the audience and started to pretend to swim and just then the bed finally worked and moved into place. It started out embarassing, but ended quite funny.
2. I was in a regional production of The Sound of Music, and during "So Long, Farewell," Liesl goes up to sing her solo "I'd like to stay and taste my first champagne," when her dress completely falls off. Who knows how or why, but it just fell to the ground. We all tried to keep a straight face but it didn't work very well.
