What's next for Piazza's Katie Clarke?

BillFinn, the "nasally" sound at the end of 'The Beauty Is' is probably because that particular line is sung entirely on F5 -- and as somebody else already mentioned, that's usually where a soprano's passagio lies. It takes some maneuvering-- well, I guess any singing takes some degree of vocal maneuvering-- to find the right, comfortable place for your voice right there. It took me five years, and I still have some trouble on my off days. Sometimes, it can just depend on the day. And no snarkiness was intended.

I've saved the telecast on my TiVo. In fact, I just watched it this morning. I really like Katie the more that I watch the telecast because I'm getting used to her. Sure, her voice isn't Kelli's voice, but Kelli also had intensive opera training and a few more years of experience. Katie's still growing into her voice and as a lot of people have said, with continued vocal tranining, she'll sound even better. Her voice worked really well with her portrayal because it was clear and childlike. It's beautiful. It's difficult to judge how "pretty" one person's voice is to another's-- Katie's voice is her own. Others might have the technical side down pat, but it doesn't diminish her talent. Just shows that there's still work to be done.

As far as her weight-- she's gorgeous and it was quite refreshing to see a girl with a real, feminine body onstage. Too often, you want to force feed actresses lard popsicles. Katie looked healthy and beautiful. The only thing that bothered me was her crazy hair! But that'll happen during a two+ hour show.
