Curtains already booked the Hirschfield.
I believe it is rumored that Moon for Misbegotten headlining Kevin Spacey will be transferring into the Atkinson.

My guess is that the wiz is going to book the show. The Kevin spacey show will probly not transfer for at least 6 months to a year and the wiz is most ready for a run as far a it being ready to mobilize to an actual broadway theatre... as for its direction, scenic, acting etc thats another question. I say we will soon see as it takes that theatre.

Is there really talk of Moon For The Misbegotten coming to Broadway from the Old Vic? If so I hope they replace the leading lady. Eve Best is a fine actress but her casting makes a mockery of the play since she is both YOUNG AND PRETTY!!! Josie must be a large unattractive women whose last and only chance for happiness lies in Jim Tyrone who, tragically for her, sees her as a mother figure. Despite the fine performances in London the play just does not work in this production.

Faced with these Loreleis, what man can moralize!

If Hairspray was ever going to transfer theaters, it would NEVER take the Palace. It struggles many weeks in the Neil Simon, which has far fewer seats than the Palace. I'd say Little Mermaid may end up in the Palace or the Hilton if either Legally Blonde or Pirate Queen fails.

GREASE WILL TAKE IT!

The Atkinson will be empty in around 10 days.

They are not going to hold the Atkinson for nearly a year for GREASE. GREASE is not even opening until next spring or summer - so WHY would a theatre remain empty for months on end?

There is enough time for THE TIMES to clear out and a limited engagement play to settle in for a 6 month run before GREASE opened. I don't see GREASE taking the Atkinson, anyway.

Something more commercial, something bigger, and somewhere that EVERYONE sees. I could see it taking the Palace or the Marquis, but neither of those seem likely. If HIGH FIDELITY folds out of town, it's probable that they could take the Imperial until ELLIOT comes in.

It must be a Nederlander theatre, correct?

I was told that it needs to be a Nederlander.

Why do you think that it needs to be somewhere more comercial? I thought that since it was going to be getting such BIG publicity already, everyone will know about it and it won't need a theater in a location that everybody sees.

The Atkinson just seems too small and dinky.

I would like it to play the Rodgers.

The New York Times reported today that A Moon for the Misbegotten is the leading candidate for the Brooks Atkinson in the spring.
