Any rumors flying around for what will grab that theatre THIS season?

Possibilities include:
Sister Act
Cry Baby
?Billy Elliot (getting a head start)
?Evita (getting a head start)
?Little Mermaid (getting a head start)

Thoughts? News?

I'd put $ on it not being a musical and either being...

A MOON FOR THE MISBEGOTTEN

or

FROST/NIXON

Billy Elliott is claiming the Imperial for 2008. My guess is Frost/Nixon or Sister Act.

I am guessing either The Wiz or Grease.

Tonya Pinkins: Then we had a "Lot's Wife" last June that was my personal favorite. I'm still trying to get them to let me sing it at some performance where we get to sing an excerpt that's gone.
Tony Kushner: You can sing it at my funeral.

bway, if Evita transfers, it won't be until at the absolute earliest the fall of next year (more likely the Spring of 2008.) They won't be booking a theater this early.

I heard EVITA might play the Neil Simon, causing HAIRSPRAY to move or close. Is the London EVITA very elaborate? Also, where HAIRSPRAY would play would be the Broadhurst or Palace.

frost/nixon, sister act, or evita. I think the wiz and grease need larger theatres.

frost/nixon, sister act, or evita. I think the wiz and grease need larger theatres. Possibly cry baby because when i searched it on the web, it said there are no suitable theatres at that time. they said it would fit into a 1,000-1,110 seat theatre

Really Useful has talked with the Nederlanders about transferring Evita, so it will definatley be a Nederlander house. Maybe it will claim the Brooks Atkinson for later. I don't want Hairspray to have to close just because Evita wants it.

Frost/Nixon is a straigt play transferring from London, starring Michael Sheen and Frank Langella.

thanks for the info, somethingwicked

i guess EVITA will probably not take the Brooks Atkinson, but i sure hope it doesn't take the Neil Simon and cause HAIRSPRAY to close or something...

Evita is a big show. The Atkinson isn't that big a theater.

I am going with Grease, since the show is being produced by the Nederlanders and the Brooks Atkinson is a Nederlander.

I love how with every theatre that opens up there will undoubtedly be someone who mentions THE LITTLE MERMAID.

Even for the tiniest theatre. People don't get it.

THE LITTLE MERMAID will be a HUGE production. The set designer that has been hired designs to scale, which means this will be a very large endeavour. And people think that Disney will bring it to a small theatre like the Brooks.

Disney made that mistake with TARZAN and the Rodgers. I doubt they'll make it again.

I can see Disney closing Tarzan for Little Mermaid, which I stil don't think is a good fit for the show. Or maybe they'll close B&B?

I would say they'll snatch it up for Grease because who wants to watch the TV show and then realize that there aren't any theaters open for it?

I doubt Disney would close any of their shows for a new Disney show.

Cry Baby postponed it's run in Seattle, so it wouldn't be able to make it to Broadway soon if they actually still hope to have an out of town tryout, no?

And considering shows like Curtains, The Wiz, etc are all hoping for Broadway transfers and still follow thru with their out of town tryouts before a theater is open for them, do we believe Cry Baby's reason for postponing?
