I've seen phrases mentioned here like "student rush" and "rush tickets" and I assume these are ways of getting discounted tickets for a show? Would this be a good way for a student on a limited budget to get discounted tickets (I'm in Los Angeles)?

I just bought two tickets to see "Les Miserables" at the Ahmanson in June through the Ahmanson's "Hot Tix". I've never bought tickets to a play or musical myself, so this is all new to me. They were a great price, but I didn't realize until I was on the phone with the theatre rep that they are "limited view" seats. I think I remember reading that some people on this board have had mixed results with "limited seating" tickets. Will I regret this?

"student rush" and "rush" tickets are bought on the day of the performance generally. You go to the Box Office when it opens and they have a reserved amount of tickets sold for rush ranging anywhere from $25-$40.

I love doing student rush because it allows me to see shows on my tight budget. They also do a lottery type thing at some shows which is another form of rushing.

A lot of student rush/cheap tickets are partial view. You get what you pay for to be honest. Many are in boxes with a good but side-on view.

dont discount sneeking in or pretending to see a show by waiting around until a show lets out and picking up a discarded Playbill...it is good evidence you actually did see the show then .... you could also listen to what folks are saying as they leave and use the persent the comments as your own...no cheaper way to do it and it develops a fantastic fantasy life!!!!
