Posted: 6/4/08 at 1:28pmcan't find a pic of it...but there is a dress that Sally in Cabaret wears at the end of Act 1. It's a black and white dress with a cute little hat and white gloves. For some reason that might be my favorite.

It may sound weird but of all his costumes, I adore this one the most.

The jazzy little number he created for Albin's transformation into Zaza during "Mascara" in the La Cage aux Folles revival. It went from a velour pant/jacket combo to a sequined gown with the pull of two strings from Gary Beach. Classic.
Don't you love when a costume change garners an ovation? =)

Posted: 6/4/08 at 1:48pmMorosco's picture is of Anita Morris as Carla in the original production of NINE. William Ivey Long won the Tony over Theoni V. Alredge's DREAMGIRLS costumes. I think the Anita Morris body suit is one of my favorite costumes in Broadway history...and those heels!

The yellow dress, obviously. I wish I could find a better picture.

I love all of the costumes from Hairspray but this is my favorite!
I also LOVE all of the variations of Roxie's costume for Chicago.

"B*tch, I don't know your life." -Xanadu After that if he still doesn't understand why you were uncomfortable and are now infuriated, kick him again but this time with Jazz Hands!!! -KillerTofu#15re: What's your favorite William Ivey Long costume?

The opening white furs stoles from the La Cage aux Folle 2004 revival were unforgettable. Theoni V. Aldredge's original 1983 opening flower garden gowns were fun. That William Ivey Long had the balls to have the "girls" dressed in just stoles and heels eventually shedding those was brilliant. The key hole set design fit the show like a glove.

Being from North Carolina, I will pick the costumes from the outdoor drama "The Lost Colony".
William Ivey Long got his start while working on this production while in high school and in college. I am pretty certain that the show nows uses designs by him.
Just a footnote -- while on the Lost Colony site, it was interesting to see all the notable alumni: Andy Griffith, George Grizzard, Joe Layton, Chris Elliot, Terrance Mann, Chuck Wagner, etc.

I also love Penny's finale dress in Hairspray. I've even had some of its beads unravel into my lap in the front row!

Gary Beach's dress in THE PRODUCERS, the one they say looks like the Chrysler Building.
It's perfect.

Everything that Big Edie wore in the first act of Grey Gardens. The fur coat outfit that Little Edie had for "Another Winter in a Summer Town" is one of my favorites as well. Ah, hell, it was all fabulous!
I also really get a kick out of the outfits Sally wore in Cabaret. They were so simple but said so much.
