What shows will be going into these theatres?

With four shows sadly closing today, which of the following shows scheduled for a Broadway opening of Fall 2005 do you think will occupy the vacant (or soon to be vacant) theatres?

Plays: Bridge & Tunnel, Hitchcock Blonde, Shining City, Festen, Martin Short on Broadway

Musicals: The Pajama Game, Princesses

The Theatres: Belasco, Cort, Schoenfeld, Barrymore (as of 7/3), Biltmore (as of 7/3), Jacobs (as of 8/2What shows will be going into these theatres?, Longacre (Woolf is being advertised as in "final weeks")

What do you all think?

Fiddler or Sweet Charity (likely Fiddler). Everything else on Broadway (musical-wise) seems relatively healthy, financially.

The Minskoff is a huge theater, something like Mary Poppins will take that one. The Color Purple was rumored to have booked the Hirschfeld before Sweet Charity came back, so that's a possibility if SC closes soon.

THE WEDDING SINGER has already scheduled it's out-of-town tryout in Seattle and is scheduled to begin previews on Broadway in March of 2006 with an April opening at a Jujamcyn theatre that hasn't been named.

Now that you mention that, FOA, I do remember that now. Duh.

Ok, so that puts it in... the Hirshfeld? The Virginia is taken by Jersey Boys, The Producers aren't leaving the St. James any time soon, and Sweeney is moving into the O'Niell... hm, this appears to be a traffic jam.

No. THE COLOR PURPLE has dibs on the Hirschfeld.

I guess it all depends on how long JERSEY BOYS and SWEENEY TODD last. I'm hoping TODD has a long run. JERSEY BOYS I could care less about. So, it's all a bargain as of now. Unless they change their minds and put in a bid for a Shubert or Nederlander theatre.

And don't forget about Woman in White in listing musicals for next season...

Lestat it seems would need a decent sized theater for all its special effects. Maybe they'll try the Belasco again. Try another vampire-esque show in there.

Charity is not closing next or anytime soon! People are still forgetting who is producing this show. FRAN AND BARRY WEISSLER. They kept Wonderful Town open for a year, when it's attendance was in the 50's and 60's for a while.

Trust me, Charity will be staying open thru January, until Christina's contract is up - and I have a feeling they might try another Charity once she leaves - just to see how grosses will remain without Applegate.

I hope Purple takes the Hirschfield. I can see a play moving into the Schoenfeld. I doubt Fiddler has much life left, so Mary Poppins could move into that, and Lestat...I dunno. I wonder how long All Shook Up will play for...or with the recent wave of Disney musicals, will Beauty be closing? Even then, Tarzan would take Lunt probably.

Yeah but I don't think there will be that many disney musicals on stage at one time...maybe it'll close in about 2 years.

Playbill.com is a good source for future productions, but until it's official, I guess it's still fun just to guess who's going where.
The Broadway Theatre has suddenly become available, and it looks like soon they'll be looking for a home for The Drowsy Chaparone.
As for Jersey Boys, I feel like many of you about jukebox musicals, and I was never much of a Four Seasons fan either, even though I've spent most of my life here in NJ, still, I've gotta admit, I'm intrigued.

Woman In White has booked the Marquis to the best of my knowledge. I'd guess Mary Poppins would go to the Minskoff or the Broadway. I say the Broadway, because, I have a feeling we're not going to see Mambo Kings any time soon. If I may be a wee bit negative, I'm guessing that though the Broadhurst and Virginia are booked at the moment, they're both booked with jukebox musicals and I'm sure one will fizzle by the New Year. Just my opinion though.
