Posted: 10/11/04 at 8:59pmParade when I saw it in Chicago. I was fine until the end. The way they staged the ending was REALLY confusing. I still haven't got a clue what they where trying to say.

Posted: 10/11/04 at 9:08pmLes Miserables because I was ten when I saw it, lol. Um....I didn't quite understand all of Phantom when I saw it, especially the ending. Although I was fairly young when I saw these musicals, so I have an excuse.

Posted: 10/11/04 at 9:24pmI havent seen it but i just finished reading a very confusing play, as bees in honey drown by douglas beane carter (or something like that) and there are 2 main characters and everyone else in the play is played by 4 other actors. I think that it would be less ocnfusing if i saw it though so i dont know if it should count?

Posted: 10/11/04 at 9:27pmRhinoceros was SO confusing but highly entertaining. See the people running around like animals was worth the ticket price.

Posted: 10/11/04 at 9:34pmI didn't understand Les Miserables the first time I saw it but I was young and still loved it anyway. Also, when I was first getting into Rent, I only owned the 'highlights' and never really understood the plot of the story until I saw it for myself.

Posted: 10/11/04 at 9:35pmI agree with mizzie on Les Miz being VERY confusing. I too was young (9) and didn't understand alot of the story. lol when most children were watching teletubbies, i was learning about the french revolution and "lovely ladies" lol

Posted: 10/11/04 at 9:37pmLol, the most confusing part for me was right at the beginning of the second act....I couldn't really understand what the Gavroche was saying, and that didn't help too much....

Posted: 10/11/04 at 9:38pmRhinoceros is the 1st show I worked at Marymount! Running the fly system allowed me a lot of time to look downward at the stage and go "huh?" I understood what it was going for, but that's not a show that re-adapts well.

AS BEES IS HONEY DROWN is not AT ALL confusing in performance -- very straightforward actually.
RHINOCEROS was one of my favorite plays when I was a teenager and devouring every single play in my local library.

Posted: 10/11/04 at 9:54pmFrom the production I saw, which was a new translation and rather odd, I felt like RHINO works better as a text than as something performed. There are some great themes in it, but certain things just bugged me about doing it on stage. First impressions mean more than they should.

Confusifying Shows...
Finians Rainbow...(does anyone get it)
Myths and Hymn...(a little too much and not very conventional at all)

Posted: 10/11/04 at 9:59pmI hate it when more than one person is singing and the singer's voices don't sound good together, so you don't really understand what is being said....it happened to me quite alot when I saw Phantom.

Posted: 10/11/04 at 10:12pmmizzie, when that happens it's more often a sound level issue than the fault of the performers. if they aren't enunciating, that's their fault, but balancing sound for a live, fully miked musical is extremely hard and far from an exact science. i do hate it when two voices just blend badly, but a good vocalist should be able to blend as well as sing solo.

Communicating Doors , by Alan Ayckbourn: A play about time travel set partly in the past and partly in the future with some intriguing plot sequences. But the story moves along so quickly that you're left thinking you're trapped in a "Clue" game where all the suspects are on crack.
Wacky even for Ayck-y!

time travel is ridiculous period.
But a good mystery musical does need to happen soon

I saw the revival knowing absolutely nothing about it except that Antonio was in it.
I guess that's my own fault.
