Posted: 5/14/14 at 3:45pmI've been waiting for them to do Rags forever. It would be a perfect show for them with that glorious, full score. I'd love to see Judy Kuhn play Rebecca.

Posted: 5/14/14 at 4:09pm"Rags" would be ideal. I think "They're Playing Our Song" would be neat (I'd be interested to see who they'd cast). "Mack and Mabel", much like "Rags," would be great with a full orchestra (that score would be amazing). (Not sure who I'd cast in this either. It was written for the talents of Peters and Preston-but I'm sure there are others who could do the roles justice.)

Posted: 5/14/14 at 4:09pmSeeing Fiorello done again at Encores (and much better the second time) made me wish that they would bring back a few shows from past seasons of Encores: Lady in the Dark (done badly), One Touch of Venus and Boys From Syracuse (both done wonderfully).

HIGH SPIRITS
HAZEL FLAGG
MAKE A WISH
BEST FOOT FORWARD
THE GOLDEN APPLE
The last one especially. I would love to see some older shows that were recorded, but either heavily abridged, without their original full arrangements or only in mono.

I often think about how I can't wait for the flops that I fell in love with when I first started going to the theater (which was just in the 90s) became old enough to make a go of it at Encores. But with Side Show's retooled version going around these days, that one's less likely. And Titanic may even be coming back. So I'll stick with this wish: that some day they'll do The Life, and I'll have a chance to see it.
I'd also be down for a season that's all Tony winners that haven't been performed recently: Kismet, Redhead, Hallelujah Baby, Two Gentleman of Verona, and Raisin could all be considered.
And just looking at what's been done before, it really might be time for some Cy Coleman in general--Wildcat, Seesaw, I Love My Wife...

Posted: 5/14/14 at 6:03pmA MAN OF NO IMPORTANCE. The score is Ahrens and Flaherty's greatest since Ragtime.

I believe Roundabout has done a few workshops of Rags, which would probably prevent Encores from tackling it, at least until Roundabout abandons it.
I would like to see Fade Out, Fade In featuring Leslie Kritzer.

Spitfire Grill!
It's my current obsession. I'd love for it to include Patti Lupone (hannah), Sutton Foster (Percy), and Laura Benanti (Shelby). Think of all of that awesomeness on one stage.

I know with MACK AND MABEL, Herman has not wanted them to do it, as he wants a full production.
But I wonder what's keeping RAGS, THE RINK, THEY"RE PLAYING OUR SONG, and ALLEGRO. I think any and all of those would create quite a bit of interest.
I'm surprised they did 70, GIRLS, 70 before THE RINK

They've already done Allegro, although obviously there's a chance they would do it again a la Fiorello.
My vote is for Darling of the Day, preferably with Rebecca Luker or Victoria Clark as Alice Challice and Jefferson Mays as Priam Farll.

Posted: 5/14/14 at 11:13pmjnb9872, Le Passe-Muraille (Amour when it premiered on Broadway) actually premiered in 1997 in Paris, so it is late 20th century, though I agree it is lovely but forgotten because the performers on the OBCR are just awful.
