The City Center production of Parade got me to thinking about Kirk McDonald, who played Frankie Epps in the original Broadway cast. He also originated the role of Boq in the San Francisco tryout of Wicked but didn't continue onto Broadway, although he did ultimately play the part on tour. I see a handful of credits in the early 2000s but nothing much in the last decade or so. Does anyone know what he's up to? Did he leave the business? I remember thinking, especially in Parade, that he had a unique and memorable voice.

Last I heard, he was working at CNN as a producer. Definitely out of the business.

He was great in Rent back in the day!
He totally dropped off the radar 20 years ago. I believe he was living in Washington DC.
Happy to see he found much bigger success as an Executive Producer in the news media. He was Anderson Cooper’s primary supervising producer for about 12 years. His producing career surpasses the few years he gave to the theatrical period of his life. What a life journey.
it would be if it were the same person

I was searching for his info the other day too. Found he was working for CNN. I didn’t realize immediately that was him until I saw his eyes in the picture - (then I knew that was def him)

It is. I did thorough checking as I also questioned this. I texted a friend who works for Anderson Cooper and he confirmed it was indeed the same person. Kirk’s performing arts career is/was well known there.

I think he joined the Peace Corps at one point.
