I was curious if anybody knows any information about whatever happened to Michael and Susan after Jonathan Larson's 30th birthday and such. I've always been curious about this but never knew..I hope I worded this somewhat coherently.
Well...Michael died...before Jonathan did...I'm not quite sure when, but I know more knowledgable people about it could supply further information
I don't know the answer, but isn't Susan also "Sue" in the life support meeting?

Wait- the people in tick, tick... BOOM! were real people? I knew it was based on his life but... Whoa.
Some one should pull out their Rent Bible
I KNOW there's more info on Michael in there and I'm pretty sure Susan is mentioned as well
Oh my God, is she really the same person as the the on in Life Support?
I'm actually curious to know if she's really an ex-girlfriend of his, or if she's a ficticious conglomerate of various people.
I don't believe Susan in TTB is ONE particular girlfriend, but a combination of a few.
I'm not sure but this is such an interesting topic! lol. I hope somebody has some sort of information.
Emcee, I'm not positive and I lent my book to my suitemate, but I do know that Jon did have a girlfriend who contracted AIDS and I'm pretty sure she's one of the girls mentioned in Life Support
WRQ, Michael didn't die. He's still alive, the virus never really took hold in him. I can't remember where I read that, though- a Raúl Esparza interview maybe?
I need to sit down and read the Rent bible again. REALLY read it.

O/T Emcee, The Normal Heart has to be one of my favorite plays ever. I have that exact copy of it, and am just starting the Destiny of Me. Just one more reason why you are the true epitome of "fabulosity."
It's my favorite play ever.
What's it about? I'm intrigued by the title, and the fact that it's Emcee's favorite play.
Really?? I coulda sworn I remembered reading about that in the Rent bible...or maybe he talked in the rent bible and there was another friend or two who died...well if that's the case I'm thrilled, seeing as he was so convinced he was gonna die(I remember reading the part where he told Jonathan about it)
Bumping to perpetuate the threadjack; sorry I disappeared and didn't get to it last night.
Sweetestsiren, it was written in the mid-80's about the AIDS crisis. Larry Kramer uses the lead character, Ned Weeks, as his alter-ego of sorts. Ned is a writer (sort of) with a nasty, nasty temper -- he wants someone to notice what's going on, and wants someone to care. He has a huge part in developing an organization (I'm not 100% sure, but I believe eventually this became ACT UP and/or the Gay Men's Health Crisis). The play is about his advocacy for getting attention drawn to the epidemic, in the face of it being ignored by the government, as it only seemed to be a threat to homosexual men; nobody cared. Ned advocates coming out of the closet, and having a legitimate political agenda that involves more than who you sleep with, and not wanting to be seen as different and weird. It also weaves in Ned's relationship with his brother, a lawyer, from whom he wants two things: financial backing and acceptance, as well as that with the lover he finds over the course of the play -- a writer for the Times called Felix, and Felix's losing battle with AIDS. It's very intense and in-your-face, often considered the more direct of its pair (the sequel is The Destiny of Me -- considered the "better," and ultimately more theatrical of the two). It's explosive and frightening, and I will never, ever forget seeing it.
I'm gonna pull out the Rent Bible and see if I can find anything cuz now I'm really curious too
