While I REALLY liked Saved...it is not ready for a B'way transfer. I was entertained through a great deal of it. BUT...It definitelly needs work if they are going to mount a bigger production. Or even hope for a long run off b'way production.
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?

I'm surprised to hear so many positive comments. I chose to miss it, based on the fact that I had not talked to a single person who saw it who thought it was anything but a poorly written mess.

well with many off-Broadway shows, i know it has a decent cult following that see it over and over again
This is a funny video from Andrew's Blog including some fans of the show (but some of them might be actors)

I think that the girl who said that she saw the show 8 times and had Juliana Hansen sign all those playbills (talk about wired stage door behavior by the way) wasn't an actor but rather obsessed fan. I feel that the same goes with the one who wrote the poem for Murney.
I had heard of some Broadway actors going to see this show considering that it had a sunday night performance when Broadway shows didn't. I saw Alexander Gemignani at closing night and on saturday I saw Carey Anderson there as well.

It only sold well because PH is a subscription house.

it was cast terribly. IT WAS COMPLETELY INCONSISTENT.
Mary and celia were too old. Julia, because of Celia being too old, was too young. I forget who played the dad was too old (would a little Just For Men have killed them?) I'm not saying the cast was Bad. I'm saying it was the WRONG Cast in a lot of cases.

After those reviews, nothing.

"After those reviews, nothing."
Seriously. Hopefully the writers will take the reviews to heart in further development for this shows or for whatever they do after this.

Yeah, I've seen it, and I was not impressed. It just seemed to take itself way to seriously for a musical based on a comedy.

I saw the show a couple of times. I really, honestly enjoyed it.
I think that it has potential. Some of the lyrics are horrendous ("You hit me so hard, you made me cry. I thought that was love how screwed was I.") Some of the songs are great (Make It True, I'm Not the Man I Thought I'd Be, Something Wrong, How To (though another example of awful lyrics), and Corinthians). I thought the book was decent - it was hilarious in some places, and I missed the satire in some places.
Though I thought some of the casting was odd, they all were amazing. Celia is way too old to play a seventeen year-old (love her, I'm just saying) and Julia is entirely too young to play her mother. I actually thought Mary Faber was perfectly cast. Morgan Weed was fabulous, too, as were most of the guys.
I think if they cut some of the music repetitiveness (there is really A LOT), rewrote some of the lyrics, and added some of the satire back in, the show could be really really good. As it was, I enjoyed it immensely and will miss seeing it.
