Hi,
I'm interested in seeing a play not a musical this time and IDK what to see?
I've seen 33 Variations and liked it. IDK if I should see Desire under the elms(I don't really know much about.
Or August Osage County
What other good plays are out there? Is Desire under the elms good?
I heard Reasons to be pretty is bad.
Also Since I have TDF now I'm thinking it'd be eaiser for me to get tickets to plays. I think Desire under the elms will be up alot now b/c its still in previews.
What would be a good play to see?
Thanks

When does Estelle Parsons leave August?
Also what are the Norman Conquests about? I hear they are good but IDK what they are about.
Whats desire under the elms exactly about?
I wanted to see God of Carnage but they don't have anything cheap.(no rush and it's not on TDF
Any chance August will come on TDF again soon. I hope so b/c I hear the rush seats suck Since they're front row or last 2 rows of the mezz and I hear the stage height could be a problem and its a 3 level set.

Go take a long walk off a short pier, coolkid
Also, August: Osage County is very nice.
We should really start a support group for people like who who can't think about buying tickets to a show without starting a thread about it.

Posted: 4/16/09 at 4:19pmI was front row center at August, and loved it. Stage height was not a problem at all, and I'm only 5'1. The only problems I had were trying to see the one scene that took place on the third floor, and my inability to see anything that took place behind the couch, especially when the hide-a-bed was pulled out.

Posted: 4/16/09 at 4:25pmI sat front row for August too and it was fine. If you dont' like it, there will probably (and unfortunately) be many open seats to move to.

Norman Conquests is brilliantly funny, performed by a top-notch ensemble cast.
From the Norman Conquest website:
THE NORMAN CONQUESTS is three interlocking full-length plays -- Table Manners, Living Together and Round and Round the Garden -- that are ingeniously written to be enjoyed individually or as a trilogy, and can be seen in any order. The plays will be performed in-the-round (as originally intended) on a rotating schedule during the week and can also be seen altogether on "Trilogy days."
Set in the dining room (Table Manners), living room (Living Together) and garden (Round and Round the Garden) of an English country house, each individual play offers a different view of one comically catastrophic weekend, shared by six spouses and in-laws, at the family home in the country. And while each play is complete on its own terms, by viewing all three plays (in any order), the audience is able, detective-like, to piece together all of the hidden secrets and lies, the outrageous, hilarious and shocking interactions, which occur over the course of the weekend.

Table Manners looks like it could be good. I'm thinking I might see that. Does it matter what order you see these shows in? Seeing all 3 in one day sounds like it'd be too long of a day. Also Table Manners is only on TDF for a Wed & Friday show. Will more dates come up soon? I want to see this but would go on like a Saturday night. I see that on Telecharge the Schedule for the Norman Chorincles is weird. It's not a typically 8 shows a week kind of thing.
Do you guys think that Table Manners will be up on TDF again for different days?
Thanks for all the help
Table Manners sounds really good

Posted: 4/16/09 at 5:12pmThe Norman Conquests all the way. I have just completed the trilogy and if this doesnt win the Tony for Best Revival there is no justice. It is just perfection.
#16Which play to see?
Posted: 4/16/09 at 5:33pmTable Manners was the first of the trilogy that I saw, and it made me so excited to see the other two. (but you can see it as a standalone and still feel fully satisfied). Word of mouth is spreading quickly on this, so its up on TDF, grab it. Saturdays are "trilogy days" ... all 3 shows in one day, and Table Manners starts it off at 11AM (but I hear it is now 11:30 ... you'd have to check). If its still 11AM, you can see that, and still catch a 2PM matinee. 11:30, however, would be pushing it.

It starts at 11:30 which wouldn't leave me time to still do a 2PM mat.
Do you guys think that they will add more TDF dates? b/c right now Table Manners is only up for 3 dates, none of which I can go.
#18Which play to see?
Posted: 4/16/09 at 5:48pmMy guess is that it will be up on TDF, at least until it opens (Apr 23), when it will undoubtedly get raves. There's also a discount code for $49 for previews, then it jumps to $60 after opening. At any price, this show is def worth it!

Do the Norman Chronaclces have student rush?
I want to see Table Manners and I wanted to see it at 11AM and see a 2PM Mat but now I see they change their start time to 11:30. Would it still be possible to do?
If not I was thinking of seeing a 3PM Mat (I know most shows only do a 3PM Mat on Sunday's) The only Sunday I saw that Table Manners is playing is on May 17th. Which sounds like it could/would work. Any Reccomendations for the other show? I'm thinking God of Carnage. Or August Osage County.
Do we think that Table Manners will be on TDF for other shows or should I just student rush it?
what tims is rush on the 11:30AM show days?

As you can see, there are many worthy plays to see. Allow me to plug one more.
I saw Mary Stuart in London in 2005 and was stunned at how strong a play it is. Written 200+ years ago and originally in German no less, it is as timely as this year. The central conflict of Mary and Elizabeth usually comes down squarely on the side of 'poor Mary', but this play shows both women's POV.
The two actresses, Janet McTeer and Harriet Walter, are stellar and the new supporting company is all from the US.
For me, your question is a no-brainer. Mary Stuart.
