Tonight, I gave myself a belated birthday gift of a trip to Wicked. By the by, one of the best Eplhaba Glinda parings I have seen. Really loved both Burn's and Schwartz's take on their respective characters.
In any event, at the end of I'm Not That Girl, instead of hitting the typical (and very odd and out of place) low note at the very end of the song, Jackie went up a little bit. I thought that it sounded better then the low note. (Granted, I never was a fan of that low note at the very end of the song, it comes off sounding very out of place.) In any event, when was that change put into the show? Or, is it more of a "How Jackie does it" rather then a re write?

Yeah, I noticed that too. But I'm pretty sure it's just her thing to go up. I prefer it to be honest. There are so many Elphabas that just sound weak going that low.
Loved Burns and Schwartz back in the Catskills in the 60's.

She's not the first one to end on a higher note. It's usually at the discretion of the music director. Few women can make the E3 sound pretty.

In Richmond VA during the 2NT while I was at the stage door I said something to Anne Brummel that I like that she is doing the high "girl" in INTG. She told me that Stephen Schwartz gave her and all the other Elphaba's and Glinda's the go ahead to do it when he was visiting them in Pittsburgh a few weeks before. I have heard other Elphaba's and Glinda's do the higher girl and it sounds so much better IMO. Erin Mackey only did the high girl and never even attempted the low girl.
So they can do it if they want to but don't have to do it.
So I'm guessing here, not being in on the 485th replacement cast of Wicked
George Burns and Gracie Schwartz?
It's all thanks to Seth Rudetsky... Maybe not, but after watching this video I like to think so. :)
