Help!!!!
I'm in the middle of a show that performs on weekends only. Its a very vocally challenging show, and after opening weekend my throat hurt. Now, two weeks later, my throat is still scratchy and my voice is incredibly hoarse. I sound like I have bad morning voice all day long. I am unable to sing out of my low range, and if I try no sound comes out. I feel fine everywhere else, just my voice. I have been drinking tea with honey and sucking on throat drops constantly. Is this something to be worried about? COuld it just be overworked?
Thank you

I wouldn't be one to ask. I have a sore throat right now, actually, though it's because I'm sick.
It could be that your voice is overworked. Though, if it has been two weeks, you might want to see a doctor and make sure nothing's wrong.
Agreed--at this point, it would be very wise to see a doctor--an ENT (ear, nose, and throat) doctor will do. From what you described, there probably is something wrong--a node, strained or bruised cord, or whatever. It could be one of these things, it could be something else, it could be nothing. But get it checked out, and be careful from now on!

Yes, it sounds overworked. But the fact that you cannot use your low range tells me that it is overworked because of tightness in the throat. Definitely go see a doctor because of the scratchiness. But go see a voice teacher or vocal therapist about the tightness. It could lead to long-term problems.
I just got over that problem and had to sing such songs as No good Deed, Defying Gravity, My Strongest Suit, etc.
Don't work it anymore - let it rest (I took off)

lol robbie.
I'd go to a doctor just to be 100% sure. Do take some time off, too.
Doctor. Then sleep and water and more sleep and more water.

exactly what MJR says.
they are right: a lot of sleep and drink a lot (hot tea works for me). Stop talking for a while! Just let it rest.
yah, go to a docter first, and try Grether's pastils. They're really good for scratchy thoats and if your voice is hoarse. alot of people use them, like Sutton Foster and Barbara Steisand.
