Hi everyone, I've done many times but I'm drawing a blank as to whether you need to write the name of the theatre on the envelope. I set my envelope up as:
Name of person
c/o the show they're in
address of theatre
do we need to include at theatre name? thanks for any help!

I may be mistaken, but I think you write the name of the theatre where you have the show listed, so it would be:
Name of person
c/o theatre
address of theatre

I am sure that you would need to put the name of the theatre on there. But, considering that the post office that is in the theatre district is located on 42nd and 9th. I am sure that they would be able to find the theatre just by the name of the show.
But, I have always read on here that you need to include the name of the theatre in the address.

Whenever I've sent a letter I've always used:
Name of person
c/o the show they're in
address of theatre
"Leave Walt Disney Theatricals new sparkling production of The Little Mermaid on Broadway alone!!!"

I mean this is how I would do it. Let's say I was writing a fan letter to Kerry Ellis at The Gershwin.
Kerry Ellis
C/O The Gershwin Theatre
222 West 51st St
NY,NY 10001
I have felt that it is redundant to put both the name of the theatre and direct that it should be sent to the stage door. Because for a lot of theatres they give the mail to the person at the stage door anyways.

Also, may I suggest that you include a self-addressed stamped envelope. The price of a stamp plus an envelope adds up to an artist, especially when they get many requests for an autograph or picture. from RC in Austin, Texas

Here's the correct way:
Barbra Streisand
FUNNY GIRL
Winter Garden Theatre
1234 Broadway
New York, NY 10036
If you wish the actor/person to return something, mail them a large shipping envelope containing a folded pre-paid large shipping envelope. This will be large enough to return to you a Playbill and/or an autographed photo.
Sending them a pre-paid regular sized envelope is redundant.

I just wanted to share this simple index card, signed by a silent screen legend. It's one of my favorite entertainment related items. I remember enclosing a self stamped envelope when I requested her autograph. from RC in Austin, Texas
