A couple years ago I went to a Tony party at a now defunct bar in the theatre district. It was a lot of fun. I don't want to go where half the crowd isn't into it and is making too much noise to hear. Any ideas where good viewing and companionship is available?
I did see that they're doing a Tony party at the West Bank Cafe downstairs. Any others to recommend?
I never go out to watch the Tonys. I am going to the mountains (Rocky Mountains) for the weekend and getting back to Denver on Sunday afternoon in time to cook and relax on my couch to watch the awards! In New York, I bet downstairs at the Townhouse would be a good place.

I don't think that the ESPN will be showing the TONYs.
ESPN? Was that commenting on my post? If so, I was talking about the Townhouse Bar up on East 58th.
why not just stay in and enjoy it? much more relaxing...
It is...and less expensive! I always have a bottle of wine on hand and some stuff to munch on. Plus I don't like to be out at a bar for the Tony's. I will go out for the Oscar's though.
I will be comming home from a Mets game in the afternoon. I plan on opening a beer and watching the Tonys and having a relaxing night at home.
Winston will be illegally opening a beer.
Or he could be drinking it with parental guidance, or with a meal. I don't know the grey areas of drinking laws in the US.
Me, I'll be watching from my bed so I can pass out easily once it's finished. I have my viewing all set up, all I need is a stash of Red Bull to keep me going to 4am and beyond...
I'll be in New York, watching it in my cousin's apartment in Harlem. Either that or waiting outside Radio City Music Hall... Or in Times Square watching it? I don't know for sure yet. But why would you want to go to a bar to watch it?
The bar downstairs at The Townhouse shows clips from shows normally. It is small and some people just like to be out around other people when they are watching awards shows. And sometimes bars have specials and contests going during the award shows.
I'll be watching it at a friends house, and yes, playing the [tos] drinking game.
I'll be watching it comfortably at home with family and a bowl of chips!
I'll be watching from the TV in my garage with a can of soda and my cat.
At home with my best friend, probably under the influence of something.

I'll be at home after all the Father's Day stuff. The house is mine for the night. Although I haven't touched any alcohol since I was diagnosed as being a diabetic, I have a split of champagne in the fridge for when the Sun, the Moon and the Stars wins her award.

at home with a beer and a big box of kleenex
i am a weepy awards show viewer. why would i want to expose the public to that?
I'll be home watching with a carafe of coffee to keep me awake. I hope they do something to jazz up the show and make it more fun to watch. Hope Whoopie is up to the task!!

There is apparently a big bash at New World Stages' bar to commemorate the event.
Why NOT go out and watch it???
Wouldn't it be fun to be out in a place where other people are just as passionate about Broadway as you are and enjoying the telecast? Nevermind the fact that we're in New York City where its taking place and no doubt home to a huge amount of Broadway die-hards.
God forbid you have to discuss Broadway with people without being able to hide behind a computer screen, fake name and avatar...
i'm actually pulling a different scenario... i can't watch sunday night due to family being in town...
...Sooo I am turning off my phone, computer, broadwayworld.com, and waiting til Monday and watching them ala Tivo.
its gonna be glorious.
I'll be watching the show at Radio City Musical Hall.

My friends and I always have a party at one of our places. Everyone brings food inspired by the year's nominees. This time we will be bringing Sundaes in the Park with Jimmies. Past dishes have included The Drowsy Chaper-oni and Cheese, Who's Afraid of Virginia Baked Ham?, Mary Popcorn, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Brie, The Light in the Pizza Rolls and Twelve Angry Vegitables.
I know-we are cool and you are all envious. All the cool kids are doing it...

I will be at home eating popcorn and drinking coke. My family plays a game where we all print out ballots and predict before the tony awards start. Then whoever wins gets bragging rights.
We do the same for the Oscars and the Emmys
How do you make Mary Popcorn?
That sounds yummy.
