Mary Stuart Masterson for sure!
Even though I just saw her twice in the staged reading of "Commentaire d'Amour" last weekend at the Florence Gould Hall. That was not Broadway but she was on stage. She read the play together with Josh Hamilton. They were both great!

I've got to go along with the others who've said Daniel Davis. It just hurts to think that I may never see that fine actor on a New York stage again. (I think he's only done that one radio show since the La Cage mess.)
Susan Egan
Lea Salonga
Liza Minnelli
PLEASE, whatever higher being is above, let Douglas Sills come back to Broadway soon!
Three words: Mark. Richard. Ford.
I'd also love to see Jesse L. Martin doing something on Broadway again, though i do love him in Law and Order.

I know that she did "Anna in the Tropics" in 2002 or 2003, but I want Daphne Rubin-Vega!!!!! But shes doing the Lincoln Center show so I guess I win!
Heather Headly needs to come back also!
If Heather comes back i want to see Adam's ass on the stage. I loved them together.
So I have an idea.
Does anyone remember that television movie called "These Old Broades" starring Shirly Maclaine, Debbie Reynolds, Joan Collins, and Elizabeth Taylor?
Though a good concept, the movie left something to be desired.
What if it were reworked and cast with a bunch of older Broadway ladies?
How amazing would that be?
By the way, when Carrie Fischer first went to write "These Old Broades," she was actually wrote it for Debbie Reynolds, Shirley Maclaine, Elizabeth Taylor, and LAUREN BACALL!
Now what if we could get her back on Broadway?

maybe Betty Buckley should replace Patti, and not Bernadette. After all, Betty has learned the role.
I'm still roiling from the argument that Bernadette "could" take over for Patti, even though she wouldn't "be as good" as LuPone? Interpreting Sondheim??? I enjoy Patti as much as next nutty theatergoer, but Bernadette is THE only true legend for our generation that can still sell tickets. Yes, Chita is a legend that can at 72 still carry a show. Patti and Betty Buckley are the next closest thing to musical superstars poat 1960, but they have one tenth the clout and, in my honest opinion, the talent of Bernadette.
Next thing you know we'll have a post about how both Patti and Bernadette could learn a thing or two from Idina... Or how Eden Espinoza is a more natural Mame than Lansbury.
I'm going to hide back under a rock now.

Joel Grey(in something that really shows his depth and talent on stage and not just his ability to dance around with a green girl. I think it was entertaining to see him in this role, and he was very good, but for me it wasn't really on the same level as his previous work. He's really capable of carrying his own show-when he's healthy, that is.)

"These Old Broads" was perhaps one of the dullest, flattest vehicles ever to hit television. Carrie Fisher had one good book/screenplay in her (I've read her other books), and she needs to stop writing now. It really took an incredible lack of talent to make a movie that boring with a cast that fantastic.
And (d5j, I swear I'm not picking on you personally!), Lauren Bacall was back on Broadway not too many years ago in WAITING IN THE WINGS. The other cast members acted rings around her - she couldn't keep up. She's not an actress - she's a personality.
ken jennings, last time i heard of him he had a bit part in urinetown.
"and i second mandi and julia murney!"
maybe i misunderstood but i thought the discussion of performers who have not done theatre in at least a year or two...julia murney was just in a show.
i agree with a lot of performers already named so I'll just add one since i don't believe i saw her on the thread:
marcia mitzman!!!

Oh, how I wish my dream production of a musical ARSENIC AND OLD LACE would be written to star Carol, Angela Lansbury and Eric McCormack.
