Well, that was hardly a 'talent search'. After talking to many schools, they found five college programs willing to participate and chose two students from each of those five. Not exactly what I'd call a search. The bigger 'search' was in finding five college programs who wanted anything to do with it.
Did they have to act and dance too? Because singing is only a third of musical theatre. Twould be bad if they got in rehersals for that broadway show, and couldn't pick up a single step of the choreography.
They each sang a song, and people voted. They're all MT majors so I'm sure they have the ability to act and dance as well. Anyway, it was a walk-on role, they weren't being cast in the show! Rehearsal time would be very limited for a one night walk-on.
