Posted: 10/23/05 at 12:44amQuite a few that have been mentioned, but the one that hasnt been mentioned: "What I did For Love" from A CHORUS LINE. When you know what the song is ACTUALLY about, and being a dancer, it makes me cry and get shivers EVERYTIME we sing it at rehersals(yes, I'm doing the show right now and we open thi comming weekend). I was just imagining how I'll be when I see the revival and they sing that song...OMG! Im going to be balling!

Ah, excellent choice, FosseBoi. One thing though...
I think you mean, "bawling",
Otherwise, that could have a very different meaning.

Posted: 10/23/05 at 12:49amFinale B in Rent. It contains all the messages of the show in one song. Powerful stuff.
2. Great buckets of Spoffnor, they're going to sing!
3. "I love shrubs that are historical." -Johnny and The Sprites
4. "We're not singing it to you, we're singing it for us." -Rosario Dawson, about La Vie Boheme
5. "The best moments in reading are when you come across something - a thought, a feeling, a way of looking at things - which you had thought special and particular to you. And now, here it is, set down by someone else, a person you have never met, someone even who is long dead. And it is as if a hand has come out, and taken yours." -The History Boys
6. "Pass the parcel. That's sometimes all you can do. Take it, feel it and pass it on. Not for me, not for you, but for someone, somewhere, one day. Pass it on, boys. That's the game I want you to learn. Pass it on." -The History Boys

I guess I suck because I can't pick one... I have just seen too many amazing performances. How about my top three:
1) Defying Gravity (Idina Menzel)
2) I'll Cover You Reprise (Mark Richard Ford)
3) Petrified (Raul Esparza)

I am kind of suprised that no one has said this yet, but i guess i'll be the first.
Sunday-Sunday in the Park with George
that song is just brilliant. All of a sudden the stories come together in simple quiet brilliance, leading to the absolute booming of voices at the end. The first time i saw the original dvd i was like 'this show is alright...eh' then all of a sudden they started singing at the end of act 1 and i was crying... i was like 'what the hell, where did this come from!' The show is definitely brilliant, and now i love every minute of it.

Posted: 10/23/05 at 1:36amOh my God, of course, how could I forget Sunday from "Sunday in the park with George"? That is one of the most amazing numbers ever! But also "I Read" from Passion as performed by Donna Murphy leaves me with chills because of the spectrum of emotions she adds to the number, when she says "Look at me, no look at me captain look at me" that's just...wow!

I remember that first chill I got in musical theatre. Not like the anticipation chill or anything, I mean that 'somebody walked over your grave chill'.
It was for me "To The Lifeboats" from "Titanic: The Musical". As somebody else had previously mentioned, it is creepy because it really happened.

The reprise of "Everybody's got the right" from Assassins.
"Sunday" from Sunday in the Park with George.
"Seasons of Love" from Rent.
I know there is more....

I have to say that most of the songs in Les Mis. However there are two that stand out:
"I Dreamed A Dream" such a Beautiful Song.
And I agree about the Finale as well.
I also have to say when I saw Wicked for the first time "Defying Gravity" was just amazing.

The end sections of Shadowland and Endless Night from Lion King always give me chills.
I agree with those who've said "Defying Gravity" and "I Know Where I've Been".

Way to pick 1, musicaltheatre. I guess I shouldn't be talking though, because there's no way I can choose just one.
-And, another moment from Rent. During "Life Support" when Roger comes in with Gordon and sings 'Because reason says I should of died 3 years ago'. Ummm... most definetly. Even on the OBCR it gives me chills.
-"You Can't Stop the Beat" from Hairspray. I don't know why, but seeing that song gives me chills. The high energy, dancing, etc.
-In Phantom when the Phantom says, "It's over now the music of the night!" That part literally gives me chills when done correctly.
That's all for right now.
