Going back to "It's a Bird It's a Plane It's Superman," the Drury Lane Oakbrook, a big Chicagoland Equity Theatre, is doing the show next year. I think that may be the only major regional production of the show that there's been in my lifetime...

I think that a musical based on Spider-man would be cool but I rather see a superhero musical that isn't based on any existing superheroes.

I imagine that the effects for it would consist of flying effects similar to Wicked or Mary Poppins and advanced special effects similar to past mega musicals. On the negative side, I imagine it would be very expensive.

silver surfer, orx-men would have to have awesome special effects, but I cant emagine there ever being a very good super-hero musical.
